Thank you for taking the time to leave you comments, Its really good to hear this video brought back great memories for you, I worked for Wimpey Mining and enjoyed working with a really great bunch of men even on those cold wet windy day's and night's, I have a film show on You Tube Called opencast coal mining the north of England and in Wales 1954-2000 there are some photos of Shands and Murphy mining I hope this will bring back some more great memories. Best wishes and kind regards.
Fantastic video , when I worked for Kier mining in the 90s the Forman would threaten you with a 3311 if you upset him , god bless him he’s up there on the big site in the sky , opencast mining were the best years of my life , and as your previous comment says today’s drivers are not in the same league
Great to see this. Love watching those shovels in action. When it was unloading into the trucks, a nice bit seemed to need an extra shake to encourage it out of the shovel. Design problem?👍☘️
Sure that that rb 195 came back to Merthyr in 1990,s for Wimpey mineing after being up in Scotland for many years, on the 2 nd phase of the coal reclamation jobs. Miller Argent are there now on phase 3, big fan of earth moving equipment travel the s w valley's to visit most sites, few times a year, most are closing down now,due to the low price of coal .
Murphy had a big site near me in Shotts Soctland, had a 195B, 1260w dragline. Dyggor Gaylord came in too, had a 992C, Euc R85s ( with 2 stroke detroits, what a noise!) and 2 Demag H185s
Great video ! that's good operating of that old 195 and sharp truck drivers , would love to see her loading the old r50's in 3 passes , the old opencast muckshifters made today's efforts in muck shifting look silly , driver quality is so poor on the whole
Now that’s a full truck!! Fast swing cycle, full buckets, perfectly matched to the trucks. Oldie but goodie Great video.
