    Thank you for the video! I just replaced the radiator on my 1999 GMC Suburban (315K miles) and this video was invaluable. There were some rust problems, but PB Blaster helped. I couldn’t figure out how to open the drain plug, so I just removed the lower hose. Also, removing the lower fan shroud made a huge difference. It opened things right up and there were only two (very rusted) bolts holding it on. The other part that made this trickier was that the lower hose was clamped with a squeeze clamp rather than a screw type as in the video. But I managed to get it off and repositioned it to make it easier to put on when the lower shroud is off. Thanks again for the video! I would have never attempted this job if I hadn’t seen it.

    Needed to change out my radiator in my 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT with the Vortec 5.7L V8. "Charlene" Your video was a big help. I got R Done in about 45 minutes and without problems (Pretty good as I don't have your experience)....So thank you for this posting. 👀😉

    Great video. About to change mine. One thing I was always taught was to turn the heater on low to circulate fluid through in order to remove any air pockets from that part of the system.

    Thanks for this vid! I also used compressed air to 'reverse" blow out the cooler in front of the radiator for the A/C. A ton of dirt came out.
    I had the squeeze clamp on the lower rad hose. What a bear to get at it. I had to lift the rad up to get channel locks on it.
    The lower shroud also won't come out without removing the rad. If you try to get it out you may damage the fan blades.

    Thanks for the video. I tired of these crappy crimped radiator plastic tanks. I went to JEGS online and purchased a full aluminum TIG welded radiator. 3. Core. My new radiator is the full width. You’ll notice your core doesn’t go from end to end thickness wise on the sides. I aid about 250. But I don’t care it’s the last radiator I’ll put in this Yukon. It was my dads who bought it new in 1999. Had 113k miles and I can’t believe that radiator leaked. Anyway for a hundred and a quarter more my champion radiator will last the life of the car. JEGS buys CHAMPION radioes in Colorado. Great unit. Yeah looking at your video you see the brackets on each side could fit another 3/4” of core. The. Champion fills those side brackets. They say my radiator is good for 600 to 800hp

    Nice work Will on the rad replacement and good follow-up with checking all of the fluids. Looks like you're pulling some long hours. It was daylight when you started the job, but was pretty dark when you were wrapping it up. Don't work too hard!

      +stuzman52 thank you, the editing makes short work of it lol however as you know time flies twice as fast when trying to capture the process on video. a 1.5 hr. job turns into 4hrs it seems. I had a few other repairs on this that added to the time as well. thanks again I will try not to lol

      +wysetech2000 thank you, cant lie I have plenty of those moments daily it seams. wanted to walk away from it so many times through the years. the satisfaction of certain jobs and this channel keeps me going I believe. this job actually went smooth however as I went to take it for a road test I noticed the brake pedal was sinking. got back to the shop looked it over and found a brake line running along the rear was leaking. 8pm customer and his wife were there to pick it up at this point. I couldn't let it go like that. ended up spending another 2hrs flaring bending routing fighting rusted bleeders. under pressure very stressful at times

      +robinsonsauto LoL...Well that just sucks. Had a similar thing happen to me a couple of times over the years. If we didn't care about what we do and other people there would be NO stress. You just have to flush it out of your mind and carry on to the next problem. I guess nobody ever told us that this job was easy.

    Great video! That Suburban is so clean. She must live in the garage! Lower intake manifold gasket R&R on a 5.7L GM, what a surprise! :) So the transmission cooler lines and remote oil filter hoses don't have any O-rings going into the radiator?

    • @robinsonsauto
      @robinsonsauto 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Raoul Thomas Thank you, its a pleasure to work on, he takes great care of it. between the lower intakes and central port injection gm kept shops in business lol. this one just uses flared fittings at the rad. corresponding tappers pretty much, however some do use O-rings on them just snug up, now on the engine oil cooler housing side it uses a quick connect style fitting they do have O-rings I have seen those at the rad. side as well however this one don't have them. thanks again for the interaction and comment its appreciated
