My mother went straight to my granny's house when she was released from the hospital after giving birth to me. My father was an alcoholic and he abused my mother mother. She lost two babies before she had me from his abuse. So straight out of the box, my mother was a single mother. She made mistakes raining me. Some of the mistakes were HUGE. But I never wanted for anything. She worked two jobs and was rarely home. She passed away two years ago. A year before she passed, we watched a commercial about abuse and neglect to children. She turned to me and apologized for neglecting me. I told her that I had forgiven her a long time ago. Thank you, RuPaul for speaking about your mother. What a fabulous human being that you are!!

Both my parents were abusive and neglectful, as was my stepfather.
They've changed along (as in, they treat the grandkids like pure gold.) However, none of them have ever acknowledged the hell myself and my 2 younger brothers went through, at their hands, nor have they apologized for ANYTHING.
I'm sure they never will.

What Tyler described about Ross’s father with the non-hodgkins lymphoma, and how there was a remission, but then it came back, and then there was hope with a stem cell transplant, but that didn’t work either is exactly what happened with my younger brother. He was sick for a total of four years; they found a mass in his chest, went through radiation and brutal chemotherapy, he had a remission, the cancer came back, I was a 10/10 match to be his stem cell donor. We were all so heartbroken when it seemed to work but then in the end it didn’t work. He was 44. It happened 6 years ago, I still miss him every day.
Out of love you gave him part of yourself.
I got to help take care of my grandmother through her last years, dressing her, taking her to the bathroom, changing diapers. It was very humbling, fulfilling, and a wonderful experience I Will always remember. She was such an amazing woman and the best grandma

Listening to RuPaul and how he took care of his mother at the end of her life brought me to tears because I had a similar experience taking care of my mom’s personal needs the year before she passed away after having rotator cuff surgery and was unable to use her right arm. My mother has been gone nearly 6 months and I miss her every day and still have a hard time dealing with her passing 😢.
Ru speaks the truth, when he talks about helping his mother by cleaning her up near the end of her life. I have lost a parent and at the end of their life that's what I was doing, And it was such a privilege To be able to help them and show them the same love they did to me when I was young.
During the reading, RuPaul might have been thinking next one through will be daddy, next one through will be daddy. And this time, his father did not let him down.and did show up. I'm glad for him that he got to hear from all those he wanted to come through.

Dads are so critical to our lives. Men: if you have children you need to love them, be there for them, teach & guide them - you are every bit as important to be a parent as the mother is! it takes 2 to tango as they say, so if you don’t want children take the responsibility - BAG IT UP! 😉
My dad was in the military. I “knew” my dad prior to my 14 th birthday. Then he retired from the Navy, it was weird having him around all the time. But you are right, if men don’t think they want kids, take care of the issue.
My military Dad was so badly repressed, he took his frustrations out on his little girls.
So many say they want kids and years later decide to walk away. You are right though. My dad wasn't around. My ex husband abandoned our daughter and I during marriage. Came home, but we didn't exist. He had moved on. Didn't just leave me but her too. It destroyed us both. Hurts to know how it makes her feel

I wasn't a bad child, I followed all rules, always did my chores, but my dads new wife decided I shouldn't exist because I'm from my father's old family, he has a new one now and my mother just wanted to party, all the time, with her pedo boyfriend/future husband and beat the crap out of me, every time she was drunk, almost every day.
I tried for years to have a relationship with my father, not allowed, I finally gave up.
So I lived on the streets, but never begged for anything, I would clean horse stalls and mow lawns, whatever I could do, I worked my way into a position in a company where I was making bank, still deep down, aching for parental love, it will never come, it's taken years to get to the point of being okay with that and not blaming myself, for their short comings.
I just want to give Ru an enormous hug!
Ru Paul never ages, he looks the same for years! He ages so well!
He's admitted to having surgery and fillers and Botox.

My dear sweet man I can completely relate to how special it was to care for your mom. Both of my parents got cancer months apart. Caring for them until they took their last breath. It is the thing I’m most proud of in my life. They stood behind a very naive hippie kid making big mistakes. Wonderful fun people I miss them so much.❤

So sad hearing the first two guys re the passing from Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma & how they had hoped stem cells would assist.
My late partner was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins back in 1995 & underwent the world first medical protocol where he had stem cells injected from his identical twin brother which annihilated the cancer & cured him. He was given 6 weeks to 2 years, he survived & lived through several different cancers & end of life scenarios, unfortunately I lost him 2 years ago to Liver cancer.
Tyler is such an amazing person, that first segment had me in tears.
RuPaul is so beautiful, inside and out. His relationship with his Mother was so beautiful too, I wish there were more 'RuPaul's' in this world. Too many parents are left to strangers. If I ever met you, I would just want to hold you and hug you tight and then say "Right, that's it, let's get on with it now baby". ♥

LOVE Palm Springs, and the people I met there were so lovely and personable…my friend and I were at a bus stop, but no bus came . This guy came by, found us and helped us find transportation…he spent a half hour helping us! He was gay because he told us about his partner. A sweet black lady was so fun to talk to, a waitress…such an experience. RuPaul I had admired for years. Good person in spite of our nasty (at times) world, he is the quality that deserves to be famous.
RuPaul talking about their dad hit home and made me cry. My dad has also abandoned me, not my brother's, just his only daughter. I, too, have been through lots of therapy. He, however, is still alive and refuses to meet his grandchildren. Kills us as his kids, but it's HIS loss.

This was lovely. In the past 3 years I have lost my oldest brother, 2 dear friends, my youngest son and my mother. I wish I was able to connect with them again. Especially my son. The grief is all encompassing and debilitating.
