    I have a theory about that triple covered INT in the end zone. Ole Miss players were losing the ball in the sun. The muffed punt was one. Then there were 2 other dropped passes where the ball hits the receiver and he reacts as if he couldn't see it because he was staring into the sun. I think someone made the decision, "No matter what, this ball is going to be thrown to the shaded side of the field." And that's what Dart locked into and he just chuckled it hoping his receiver could get to it AND see it because it was in the shade. But he didn't count on or see the three guys behind the receiver. So, I think they were trying to help the receiver catch it by not throwing it in the sun. I have no proof of this and I don't know if that was Dart's idea or Lane's or what. And I'm not making excuses. I am a Gators fan. But it's the only thing I can think of that makes sense as to why Dart would throw it into triple coverage like that.

    This game was lost by Lane Kiffin going for it on 4th and short. That was 3 turn overs that cost Ole Miss the game. Ole Miss has gotten away with this high risk play all year. However this type of high risk play is folly when you are the superior team and don't need to take such risks to win. High risk play is what underdogs do in the hope of gaining an advantage over a stronger team. Add this to the fact that Florida is under rated and you get this kind of upset. Lagway played a very good game, certainly the best of his career. But we all know if they played 10 times, Ole Miss would win 7 or 8 of them. At the end Dart was just trying too hard to throw the ball deep, rather than taking the short sideline passes. I don't know if this was Kiffin's calls or Dart's decision making, but someone was in panic mode and it backfired. Those deep passes are another form of high risk high reward type of play and when they work you look great like a genius, but when they go wrong you look silly, unless you are in a desperate situation. This appears to be Kiffin's style of play and it bit him where it hurts nearly every time in that game and cost Ole Miss a CFP birth.

      Brother, there is not a coach in the SEC who has not suffered this type of loss. Spurrier, Fulmer, Richt, Saban, you name it, they have all done it. At the end of the day, that is still another SEC team on that other sideline. Kiffin will win a championship, but it takes a lot of luck too. There are so many plays that I have seen over the years that changed entire seasons. Think, Florida doesn't get a National Championship if Texas doesn't beat Nebraska in 1995. Florida doesn't get a National Championship if South Carolina makes just one Field Goal. Heck, the year Ole Miss beat Tebow in Gainesville, how many losses did that Old Miss team have? And that team was still to this day one of the best teams I ever laid eyes on. This is the price we pay for being in the SEC.

    • @philmorris8862
      @philmorris8862 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@bernie7044 So far Texas has only lost to a strong Georgia team. Ole Miss has two bad losses this year. This one was due to Ole Miss not playing solid conservative football. The 4th and short turnovers, and the long passes at the end when there was plenty of time to use short low risk passes. I was pulling for Ole Miss and would have bet on them if I was a gambler. They took too many unnecessary risks, and Florida played a good game.

    Guys, lets get real for a sec. First off, if anyone dares to say that Lane Kiffen is underrated, then they would then have to add Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, Bobby Bowden, Phil Fulmer, and the list goes on. Do people actually take into account just how difficult it is to win an SEC Championship, much less a National Championship playing in the SEC? What year is Lane Kiffen in at Ole Miss? Ole Miss people had better think before they speak. It's so easy to sit back and go over a game after the fact. It's also very easy to analyze these coaches from week to week. How long did it take Spurrier to finally win his first at Florida? And that's just the SEC Championship. Something Florida had never done until Spurrier came home. It takes time for a Coach to learn how to coach in the SEC. It's not like Kiffen is going up against subpar competition. FOOTBALL IS A GAME OF MATCHUPS.
    I never hear any of the people that I follow online talk about matchups, and this is why so many people are shocked when games don't turn out the way they expect. Too many people are rating Florida off of that poor showing against Miami. The Texas A&M game was a lot closer than what that score indicated, even though Florida got smashed up front. Just think, if Florida converts on just one of the redzone possessions against Tennessee? Just one? I'm not going to talk about whether they should have gone for two or not, but I am saying just 1 of those redzone opportunities get cashed in, that is one less loss and 1 more win. Then, Georgia. Georgia was in trouble because they had no answer for Lagway and the Florida Receivers. Remember, Georgia came into that game without two of not only their best DBs but also their most experienced. That is a different ballgame if Lagway remains. I'm not saying a win, but it's certainly different.
    Whenever the SEC decided to expand again, then, we add in the NIL, I truly believe that this was a recipe for disaster for the SEC. Many of the SEC fans today don't have a clue what the SEC was like before the SEC Championship Game and splitting into east and west. Every game is filled with emotion. You had better come to play every Saturday. Those days of going undefeated are all but over. Are the fans going to be able to handle a 2 loss team? Look at the freaking schedules, and now we have added OU and Texas? Anyone up for going to play between the hedges this week? How about Death Valley? A Saturday night game in Columbia, SC? The Swamp? Neyland in Knoxville? Jordan Hare on a Saturday night? Anyone up for playing an very young Arkansas team with one of the best football minds out there in Bobby Patrino? Mike Stoops is a defensive guru, like his brother, it's just about depth for them. The SEC homefield is a nightmare for any visiting team, I don't care how good a team is on paper. It comes down to matchups and if you're not careful, a game can get turned on it's head. I have seen this too many times.
    Lane Kiffen is one of the best coaches in all of football, but it takes time to learn how to coach in the SEC. This is a different animal. The speed, the talent, the depth of the rosters, the experience of not just your offensive lines, but the Offensive Tackles. To play in the SEC it starts up front in those trenches. The problem is that too many people are looking and making judgments based on the QBs. It's not shocking to see true freshman DBs come in and make a difference, because I have seen this too many times. Look at the matchups. Florida is a lot better than their record. They could easily have 1 or two more wins, while Georgia and Tennessee could easily have another loss.
    The fact of the matter is this. Sometimes Coaching decisions might be questionable, but at the end of the day, it took Phil Fulmer how long? Spurrier? Bowden to win a National Championship? Go check out how many years FSU finished in the top 3 to 5 teams at the end of the year without a National Championship? How many times did Florida have a chance to win the SEC prior to Spurrier? I can tell you like this. Florida had never beaten Georgia and Auburn back to back until Spurrier got there. So, was David Cutcliffe and Tommy Tubberville overrated at Old Miss too? Remember, Tubberville went undefeated and couldn't play for a National Championship or SEC Championship because Auburn was on probation. Look at Mark Richt. Overrated? Heck no, you go back and look at that murderers row that he had to face. All you can hope for in the SEC is a lot of good luck, even when you are good. People have gotten spoiled over these teams going undefeated. Heck, we have never had an undefeated season in Gainesville. Oh yes, I would love to have one, but regardless, every year I automatically mark up for two losses, even at our height as a program. Why? Because we played in the SEC. Again, Football is a game about matchups, not about records, not about who you have beaten or who you have lost too. As I've already said, it takes a coach a bit to learn how to coach in the SEC. I don't care how good your team is on paper. It's not like these other coaches aren't good themselves. Do you honestly think that Nick Saban would have had that kind of success at Bama had he not cut his teeth as LSU?
    Just remember, it was a 4 loss Florida team that almost messed the entire SEC up in our very first SEC Championship. Alabama was undefeated, but even with those losses it wasn't like Florida wasn't any good, because they were. The Tim Tebow Gators lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship. On paper, Florida was clearly more talented. I use the word talented loosely, you know why? Just because someone is a 5-star doesn't mean he's better than a 4-star. Heck yes, coaching matters. That entire Bama Secondary were David Shula guys, who also btw weren't even sent a letter by any of the Florida Schools. Javier Arenus, McClain, those boys played their butts off that day, but still, when I picked up the paper the next morning and I looked at the states, something jumped off of the pages. Tebow averaged 11 yards per carry, Jeff Demps averaged 11, and the other little speedster we had averaged 10. And we lost? How? Time of possession. Great coaching. Does this mean that Urban Meyer was overrated? Heck, he clearly had the best team, top to bottom. No, this is why the SEC is the nation's premier conference. People get so arrogant as if their team can't be beaten, or it's poor coaching if your team loses. Why can't we just say certain things didn't go our way and the other team did a good job?
    Lane Kiffen is a great Coach. He, like Bryan Kelly, had to play a team that has been improving ever week. This was not a fluke against Tennessee. Not a fluke against Georgia. So, a team that loses to Georgia and Tennessee is now not any good because they have those losses? We were soundly beaten by Miami. Texas A&M didn't pull away until late, very late because of Florida not converting on 4th down deep in our own territory. Please make no mistake about it. Kentucky was a good team but injuries caught up to them. They gave Georgia hell, but it should be expected, they always play Georgia and Tennessee close. Once again, people are looking at records and not matchups. No coach in the SEC is overrated, however, it takes time for people who have not been in the SEC for years to understand how to win. The SEC has one huge secret that nobody ever talks about and that is this. GREAT PUNTERS. Our punters can flip the field. Friends, that is a weapon. Go back and look at all of the Championship teams, all of them had dynamic Kickers, and great Punters.
