It's been rumored that Vince wanted Goldberg to partake in an Australian tour sometime before SummerSlam 2003, Goldberg straight up said no, and apparently that was the reason why he ended up losing that Elimination Chamber match in such a lousy fashion.. it was the company's way of punishing him for not wanting to go on an overseas tour under the boss's wishes.

I was a huge Goldberg fan. He even gave me his gloves after beating Kevin Nash at the Los Angeles Forum. We knew someone in creative at the time and they told us 3 months in advance that he would lose at Starrcade. The mystique had officially come to an end 🫤
I remember back in the 90s my best friend had a WCW PS1 game we played a lot. We made it a rule that none would be allowed to pick Goldberg. They made him super overpowered with all maxed out stats etc... WCW really went allin with selling him as an absolute monster in every product they had 😅
I liked Goldberg as a kid but they really damaged him with that lost to Kevin Nash. They should have just let DDP beat him in their match. That Jackhammer reversal into a Diamond Cutter was epic! And would have made a nice way to end the streak. At least better than how we got it.

I became pro-wrestling fan in 2002, when I was 13 years old. I remember seen Goldberg in 2003. Early 2004 Goldberg fought Scott Steiner and Test in triple-threat match. Cool video about Goldberg.
Goldberg was the right guy, in the right place, at the right time. I thought Nash's booking was great. Someone had to beat Goldberg. Nash beating Goldberg with Scott Hall's help was a believable but surprising outcome. At least Nash didn't make Goldberg wear a green robe and wizard's hat, that would have been some bad booking.
Taker has gone on record to say the match frustrated him because he didn't notice Goldberg had a concussion and kept going. He didn't want his match with him to look bad, but that plus a mix of him not being in the ring for a while ended up with that match.

Same case for Cena, Hogan and many others. They're not the most technical wrestlers ever but they sticked to their niche and performed it better than anyone else could.
