I'm a cancer survivor. The clinic where I had my chemo treatments received donations of hats from a local group of women who crocheted. It was winter time when I lost my hair and I absolutely appreciated the cute beanies that were given to me. So I started crocheting hats to donate. Summer hats that will shade a bald, tender head in the summer would be really great to donate too. Thanks so much for this pattern.

@@daryacrochetlife I did it! The addition of the ecru #10 mercerized crochet cotton gives it a nice color and a bit more stiffness than yours appears to be. I used a 4 mm. hook to compensate for the additional product used.
One problem is I finished the rounds with 20 gauge wire which may be too thick as the edge curls. My next hat will be with a larger hook and a thinner gauge wire. I did not try the fishing filament so that'll also be a good try. I'll see how it evolves.ooking to give your Fedora pattern a try as well. Thanks for a great video and pattern.

Hi!! I love the hat but Im sorry, i've been trying for twice and I don't get it.
When you finished round 5th, you have 30 simple croches, so you say to star 6th with 2 simple croches and 1 double. How possible is to get at the end of this round 36 simple croches? mathematically is imposible!
    Example:
Every number is a croche (30)
If I do the sequence that you say: 1simple + 1 simple + 2 (1 double)=112...... at the end of the round 6th there is no 36 croches, there are 40!
    Round 6th= 112112112112112112112112112112
Please, Am I doing something wrong?

    • @daryacrochetlife
      @daryacrochetlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi! Here is how you need to make 6th rnd: [2 SC (each one in its own hole), 1 INC (2 SC in the same hole), 2 SC (each one in its own hole)] repeat this 5 more times, and at the end you should have 36 SC.
In each rnd you increase 6 SC.
If you still have any questions please let me know =)

You don't need to do anything special at the end of the round, just keep crocheting into the next space. Place the marker at the last stitch of the round and when you count total number of stitches don't forget to count stitch with the marker.

Try using a steam iron with the hat over some type of mold...like a bowl...you can wrap the bowl in newspaper to make it bigger if you need to. Do Not touch a hot iron to the raffia...it will burn.

I saw another lady had the same problem so you wrote down how to do row 6 which is exactly what I have been doing and it always end up with 40 stitches at the end of the row…???? Doing what you say there are 10 increases not 6

In 6th row you need to make: (2 sc, 1 inc, 2 sc) repeat this part 6 times total and at the end of this row you will have 36 sts. Count your sts in a row before, it should be 30.

I also had some difficulty understanding at first...but I listened over and over until I became used to your beautiful accent and your sentence structure.
I kept thinking that, for example, for verbal instructions for increases, people usually say ( 6 sc ,one in each stitich) then (2sc in same stitch , then 12 sc in each stitich) and repeat 2 + 12.
Written would spell it out better, but for some reason I kept doing the first number then 2 then first number again.
But I figured it out and this is actually an excellent way to crochet in the round so it is very even.
      Thanks!
