day6 was my introduction to krock type of music, and ill love their songs endlessly. if you're looking for more day6, zombie (they have an eng ver too), i wait, and you were beautiful are some of my favorites.
Day6 wrote all of their own lyrics. YoungK (one of the members) has written lyrics for an incredible amount of artists and not only kpop artists. Day6 before their offical or right after their debut wrote a song every week and so has ended up with a fairly large discography in a short amount of time.
Their main lyricist is Young K (bassist). He is one of the most talented people in the whole entertainment industry I guess. You should see his "Young One" playlist!! (it`s covers, mostly in English) His voice is my TOP-1!!
I always love yalls energy!! Also JYP Entertainment is stray kids and xdinary heroes company! Xdinary heroes and day6 are the only instrumental bands of JYP. day6 was first and unfortunately the sub-label that was handling them aka “studio J” mismanaged them and mistreated them and day6’s 6th member left before the debut i forgot his name tbh, and jae(hes been in some controversy too), left back in 2022. Think that some of them are doing military service if im not mistaken? And the most active person in the band is young K, he has solo albums and songs, hosts a radio show, and more! Studio J is slowly learning their mistake with xdinary heroes but they still dont know how to promote their bands or manage them correctly. Which sucks because these two bands are truly talented
i really recommend LØREN "Folks" music video. He is a korean rock artist, the thing thats so special about him is that everything you hear is done by him, he produces his songs, plays guitar, plays the drums and writes his own lyrics for every one of his songs. He's very talented and his song Folks is personally my favorite song by him, but all 8 of his songs are fantastic.
Sorry, David... I'm with Angie on the Sunday start of the week. 🤭 DAY6 definitely gets some love, so I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few recommended them to you. This is one of 3 songs that I know I suggested, the other two being "Somehow" and "Love Me or Leave Me" (someone said "Zombie" below, and it's great as well). So, about the genre/label/whatever stuff... the whole industry can be confusion incarnate for the American mindset, lol. The very simplest that I can put it is that "K-pop" is the umbrella term for the industry without regard to specific genres. The genre can be anything (or a combination of several) that you'd find across the world, it's just a different language for the lyrics. If you think of "K-pop" as a city, then the "companies" would be buildings where artists live and train (ignore the need for actual separate housing, here). -- There would be 4 big buildings (or even complexes to include their subsidiaries) for companies like SM, YG, JYP, and Hybe (formerly Big Hit). -- You'd also see other buildings of various sizes to represent companies like KQ, Maroo, FNC, and on and on (there are seriously a ton of them). -- Here and there you might actually notice a house-sized place where artists are basically supporting themselves, trying to make it. Hopefully that helps to break it down a little bit. The whole industry (especially how comebacks are done) threw me for a loop at first, so I had to kind of think of ways to walk my brain through it so it'd actually make sense to me. ----- On to the actual song & video thoughts... I had a feeling that Angie would appreciate the lyrics on this one. My suggestion list even said "excellent lyrics", and I mentioned that the MV matches the lyrics really well. The acting in this is just so good -- she's so cold and matter-of-fact about throwing harsh words (finger-gun) and you can see the pain in his eyes as it goes straight to his heart. And then everyone else stands with her / fights for her, but they're all so surprised when he actually shoots back... and makes them see their own true colors. Man, I love this song, and I love this video. "Vicious words hurt like a bullet" is the overall theme. It's on the liquor bottle at the start, the chalkboard (gets splattered as he shoots back), and the end credit bit. Yay for another enjoyable one for you guys!!
Yay for Sunday being the start of the week! Haha! Thank you for the explanation. It was a bit confusing, and that makes a lot more sense. I loved the depth of the lyrics in this one. Keep an eye out for Zombie coming up. I think you'll like my reaction. 😉 ~ Angie 🤘🏻🎶🖤
