    Bought this machine, very thankful for the amount of information you shared on this video. Easy +1 follow 👍

    Great video. Can't wait for your follow-up video. I was online the other day searching for a laser engraving machine. I have to look into this company.

      One of my other lasers is an Atomstack A5 Pro, which performs well with no problems. It has a larger format engraving area than this one, but is not really portable.

      @@rogersshop I saw you reviewed the XTool D1. Do you plan to test out the XTool M1? After looking at the video for this machine on their website, it seems like a nice machine to test out.

      @@softsuga79 It is interesting, but unless I am offered one to review, I won't be buying one. The D1 I have was purchased by me and not given to me to test. It performs very well and does what I need it to do. The M1 offers die cutting, but I already have both a Cricut Maker and the Cricut Maker 3, so don't need that feature. With the exception of this Atomstack Laser, the lasers I have reviewed (and currently use) were purchased.

    Would this be able to engrave anodized aluminum?

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the color. The darker the coating, the better the etch. Results on silver may be a disappointment.

    if you had a laser burn out in 20 hrs, 2 things 1 probably the diode is a cheep uncapped one. and 2 you ran it too hot for to long with insufficient cooling. heat kills a diode quick. i have all sorts of extra fans blowing air all over the place to keep things cool.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The laser that failed (not this one) I referenced was junk from the start. It had ALL kinds of QC issues. I have ten diode lasers, so not exactly a beginner. I had purchased that one just to see what a really CHEAP laser was. You get what you pay for.........

      @@rogersshop I currently have 5 working diode lasers and I believe six or seven dead ones I'm not sure that box is kind of full. I only have two actual machines though I changed lasers out for different jobs since they have different characteristics one is a original otour 400x400 frame and the other is the sain smart 3018 I bought to use as a router but with the screws it's so stable I get no banding issues at all I use it primarily for white tiles with a custom 2 watt laser. If I could source metric derails locally I'm in central Ohio I build me a CO2 laser. An eight and a half foot by 8 in laser frame would be nice to do trim as well.

      @rogersshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisfrisch1347 I also have the Sainsmart 3018 CNC. I played with it for a while before determining it was a "toy" CNC and put the laser head on it. I made a custom spoil board for it jigged to accept ceramic tile and now that is all I use it for................And it does it quite well.

      @@rogersshop heres a 3018 tip. I am on my second X rail screw, the first one i str8 wore down to nothing till it would no longer work. so when i finally sourced me a replacement that arrived unbent which was a challenge all its own. (so was figuring out the starts pitch and thread). So anyway now i have the 3018 set up to run one or 2 4-4.25 inch tiles at a time. basically a left and right so i wear the screw evenly and theres a stop in the middle so i can run 3x6 tiles. I did a whole tarot deck for a lady on 3x6 ceramic. But this way my screw is wearing evenly and i already have a 3rd replacement on the shelf ready as i sell alot of NWT's.

      Thanks. The laser "heads" are essentially the same between the two. I will be doing comparison videos once weather warms so I can go outside to compare 8 different lasers at once, side by side.

      @@rogersshop 1st of all, thank you for the detail you went into with this video. I have watched around 50 videos and read hours of reviews and learned more in 40 mins here.
      I have looked through your list of videos and tried a search, but can't seem to find the 8 machine comparison. Perhaps you never managed to get around to it.
      It would help me enormously, as you are clearly very experienced, if you could guide me to the most suitable machine for me.
      My budget is up to around £500 ($600) ideally less but possibly a bit more if warranted.
      I think I have narrowed it down to a choice between the Atomstack P9 m40 (haven't yet checked out your video on the m50). The Atomstack A5 pro and the Xtool D1 or D1 pro and of course am open to any suggestions.
      Primarily, I am looking to work with wood. Though at some point I would like to be able to engrave metal, ceramic and glass. Cutting ability is likely to only be up to 6mm initially but again, the option to cut deeper would be good.
      I want to produce small personalised items, such as coasters, fridge magnets, and suchlike. Also engraving copies of photos onto wood.
      At this point I should mention that I have never used a laser engraver and am quite anxious about the software side of things and setting the machine up initially (though your video has helped in that regard already).
      So ease of use generally, would be a requirement, along with reliability.
      I'm hoping to purchase a machine within the next week or so, and would appreciate your input, if you see this. In the meantime I will keep watching more of your videos.

      @@prestonian1066 I have the Atomstack A5 Pro and it is a good laser. I also have two of the xTool D1 lasers, if that tells you something. I never did get to making the 8 machine comparison, but still thinking about it now that I have 14 lasers! The Atomstack P series are good if you want something small and portable, but is has a very limited work area.

    thats too much power 100% is too much, i can see your tile is burning grey and not black, 2 possible causes, 1 out of focus and 2 is you have to much power and you are overburning, my 20w burns a tile at 1400mm/min at 60% power so ths 40W is def overkilling at 100%

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are wrong. We run hundreds of these and this is a 5 watt, not a 40. Once stripped, tiles are perfect. Have never had a complaint from a customer. Input wattage is a misnomer and means little. Only the actual output wattage is a significant value. I have ten diode lasers, most in continuous use, so I do have some idea of what I'm doing.
