True story I went to pick my grandmother up from her senior citizen facility in Long Beach so she could come spend the weekend with my family. They were having a party, and when I walked in, all the seniors were singing and dancing to "They Not Like Us." Some were standing up, holding their walkers, and it was crazy. When my Gran-gran got in the car, I said "Gran-gran what you know about that song?" she said that's " K. Dot, " and she started saying,"They not like us, they not like us. " Tripped me out, no cap🧢

Rakim spoke big facts! He spoke what I and I'm quite sure others were thinking that Drake will pull the popularity votes over quality music against Kendrick but for people who understand real hip hop culture understand that it is quality and top tier skills over quantity and microwave raps all day.💯

Wow 😳 In layman terms all hip-hop / “the culture” / African Americans are telling you in this historic rap battle is that you will not and are not going to take our shit AGAIN🤷🏽‍♂️. You took country, you stole rock roll, you profited from jazz & reggae. So please listen and enjoy and respect our music but you are NOT going to control, dictate or take this artistic masterpiece from “US” again … Is that too much to ask ???

Nuggas really be talking about Kendrick like he had anything to prove in any are. This man is one of biggest most critically acclaimed artist in the world. A literal Pulitzer Prize winner. Anybody doubting him doesn't know what a Pulitzer is. BTW, he's also had huge hit. Mainstream hits. He could sell as many records as Drake if he dropped a single, album, mixtape and collab every five minutes for 15 years straight. He's onr of the few artist that CAN go away for 6 yrs and still have people ready and waiting to give a shit. Put some respect on this man's legacy. Off the soapbox.

Mainstream and Underground are needed. Obviously Kendrick hasn't been underground since Section .80 but a Conscious Artist with a large big fan base is rare these days.
Rakim and Kool G Rap changed the rhyme game as did Slick Rick,Kane, KRS, LL long before we got the 90s GOATS (Pac, Nas, BIG, Funk Doc, Jigga, GFK)

It’s real hiphop (it is real hiphop
( you have arithmetic hiphop primary where Mc’s thrive” - old school notion of hiphop left-foot of hiphop )
    Than
( you have melodic hiphop primary where lyricist thrive” - old school notion of hiphop right-foot of hiphop )
Weirdly right-foot melodic hiphop it would become the most popular form of hiphop ever taking over the mainstream (market) 🤷‍♂️ is what it is
But both forms of hiphop go way back in hiphop history as real hiphop
Drakes hiphop is just (more palatable 🍽 ) is all
If Kendricks whole catalog was him displaying arithmetic hiphop and he made the billboards with that primarily alone …. Than I would lead the drake supporters mutiny to dethrone drake .
But Kendrick didn’t do that .
So here we are … his battle diss rap was amusing interesting , but wasn’t that for me

Keep quiet didn’t work himself to the number one spot people are just so oblivious. but I guarantee you half the people that be singing not like us are the same people that were singing I’m on one by Drizzy.
