I got this as a cost-effective amp for a turntable (I'm new to this and bought unpowered speakers not realizing I needed an amp - derp). I'm not seeing any way to ground this; any suggestions? Thanks for the review!
Found this online about mini amplifiers - hope it helps. The amplifier is designed to be grounded through the RCA cables. If it's grounded through the power supply, it sends crazy amounts of distortions to speakers. The odds are pretty high that your grounding problem is not in your amplifier... but rather in your signal source, through the RCA cables.
What size /type of speaker wire can be used with this amplifier? Do "banana plugs" work with connections? Can you "bi-wire" connect to your speakers with this amplifier? Thanks
Hi Jim, i use 16gauge wire with banana plugs attached and fhe terminals on this accept those fine.(bare terminals would just about accept this gauge but tight to fit so would recommend bananas!) Personally I wouldnt try and bi wire as I dont really think that you'd notice the difference and really you need an amp with double terminals to make this work properly and get best from it. (there probably is a workaround though). Hope this helps a little?
There's a major problem in all of these Fosi Audio MC101 units, the Bluetooth chipsets are all defective and only have the SBC Codec enabled, the lowest quality codec. AAC codec in all of the Bluetooth chipsets has been misprogrammed, not included, and instead a second same SBC codec has been enabled instead. Edit: I've contacted Fosi directly who've confirmed same issue and they're sending out a replacement unit (after their holiday season) which will have the problem corrected on the new Bluetooth chipset. Will see how it goes anyway.
@@DIY-AUDIO tested myself using "Bluetooth tweaker" software yesterday on PC as I noticed the audio quality on Bluetooth wasn't what it should be if AAC codec is being used (SBC is terrible). Confirmed by sending debug logs to author of software and also then via Fosi support on Amazon, who offered a 10 pounds refund. I'll be sending the unit back to Amazon as defective for a full refund as unless a new hardware batch of these units is released, there's no guarantee that the defect in the Bluetooth chipset has been replaced or resolved.
Here's the actual Codec info, though you can get and install "Bluetooth Tweaker" software on PC to see for yourself and if your own unit is affected... What should show below is the second Codec of AAC, but the chipset has only SBC enabled on both options. Whether Fosi bother to recall all affected units is another matter, probably not because most won't find out until too late or know how to check (or care I suppose). [CODEC#1 supported by device] CODEC Type: SBC, Sampling Frequency: 16/32/44.1/48kHz, Channel Mode: Mono/Dual Channel/Stereo/Joint Stereo, Block Length: 4/8/12/16, Subbands: 4/8, Allocation Method: SNR/Loudness, Min/Max Bitpool: 2/53 [CODEC#2 supported by device] CODEC Type: SBC, Sampling Frequency: 16/32/44.1/48kHz, Channel Mode: Mono/Dual Channel/Stereo/Joint Stereo, Block Length: 4/8/12/16, Subbands: 4/8, Allocation Method: SNR/Loudness, Min/Max Bitpool: 2/53 [CODEC selected by Windows] CODEC Type: SBC, Sampling Frequency: 44.1kHz, Channel Mode: Joint Stereo, Block Length: 16, Subbands: 8, Allocation Method: Loudness, Min/Max Bitpool: 2/53
I'd email Fosi, shouldnt be an issue with power pack but maybe you'd be is one. Max from what I believe is 24v 6a so what you have in box should be enough
This looks so cool ! I may have to get one and use my little Moukey as a headphone amp .
👍

Hi Trev, and how did you come by this news?

Which power supply would you recommend to upgrade to. I am currently using 24v 4.5A supplied in box but at high volume it does not work properly

Paul how do I connect this to a vintage technics 1210 turn table and then connect via Bluetooth to Sonos? 🙏🏽
Jim, I unfortunately have no idea!! I reckon do a search on TH-cam to see if someone has done so!
How this compare to V3 or to za3?
Working on a video of za3 currently
You state that the 'push' feature of the volume knob does nothing... In-fact it cancels the bluetooth connections if depressed for 5 seconds.
Thanks Trevor, nice to know!
