ELVIS WAS THE GREATEST SINGERS OF ALL TIME ... very much missed
Yes but that's an IMO in the final analysis. The greatest might be yet to come. Depends on criteria you apply to your reasoning. Eg... in the genre of opera.
@@lindawatts5102 you have forgotten to mention Johnny Halliday the greatest singer of all time.
He did not snub Elvis because Elvis was not the one who offered to meet with him. It was just somebody else who offered to arrange a meeting.
you are so right,Elvis never wanted to meet him Elvis would not have liked this arrogant piece of work.he wishes Elvis would have wanted to meet him
Then why are you watching this video about CLIFF😮!! Point of fact, Priscilla met Cliff after Elvis passed and told him that Elvis actually admired Cliff and considered him great competition! She also gave Cliff a personal photo. Go troll somewhere you can get your facts straight!@@GetaldineWhite
Fantastic interview! I like so much your sense of humor.
You are Great Cliff Richard!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Sir Cliff Richard is Britain's answer to Elvis Presley.
In the beginning he was.
Who cares if Elvis was overweight or not. That's not a proper reason not to see him..
I Don’t believe his answer.. Probably Elvis didn't want to see him! Elvis the King forever!
If Cliff had gone to see him the journalist who said he could arrange it would have expected to get an interview/picture/something out of it - a good look or a bad look - it would have been a story? They were at the time reporting all the bad bits of his image and might have derided Elvis - Cliff possibly could have had a chance to meet Elvis - the Beatles certainly did!
He wasn't in the same league as Elvis loved him.
His loss..
@@HarryLags thank you Elvis did not want to meet this man.elvis had to much class to even be in the same room with him
Elvis Presley es y será por Siempre EL REY, LO MÁXIMO ♥️ mi Elvis todo ÉL LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR
A light-hearted interview which was enjoyable to listen to - genuine humour - good choice of guests.
Hey dont cliff talking about elvis overweight its still The same Person anybody who Turns a chance to meet elvis and turn it down are crazy elvis is elvis it does not Matter What weight he is The man was ill he still sang brillant to The end still better Than cliff even today he been Gone 47 years this year still The greatest over The World
Cliff himself has said numerous times that he regretted that decision. I understand what he meant. I absolutely adore Cliff, but I'd rather met him when he was younger, and I prefer to see him when he was younger. Everyone wants to hold onto a certain image of their idol.
Elvis's weight WAS his illness!🙄 Fans are selfish to think he was inanimate! Noone, not his people nor his fans helped him. All they cared about was his music and fame, as he slowly died inside. SELFISH!
By the mid-70's Elvis's star had faded drastically. There were already Elvis impersonators at the time, but when Elvis himself made the news it was always about his weight or his drug use. It wasn't until after he passed away that attention was renewed on his earlier work and on his best songs of his comeback years. The new interest in Elvis brought on a flood of re-releases of his music which has never ended and his star shines as brightly now as it ever did.
I agree that after the Aloha Special in 1973 and the divorce later that year that you saw a change is Elvis 74,75,76,77, where he was touring the same show basically non stop for the most part. But he was still selling out Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas as well as venues across the United States wherever he performed. Also his chart success was strong but on the pop charts it did diminish following the success of the Aloha from Hawaii album in 1973 where it was number one on multiple charts across the world, he did however continue to see success on the country charts and score number one albums. After turning 40, they did start to mention Elvis weight from 1975 on but the drugs were never widely known about to be reported on until the book Elvis What Happened was released in 1977.
Elvis was a 'has been' in 1976.
@@weskitten Elvis was 41 in 1976. Most Rock stars are has beens by age 35.
@@weskittenhe was and is not a has been!
I love Richard's conceit even when talking about the 'competition'!!!
One can't argue with his strong melodic voice but his vanity and ego make you want to laugh even while throwing up!
Richards didn't miss a beat to the question about who holds his interest, Elvis. Love Cliff for not being a jealous individual but rather pays homage to the King.
The best ever interesting interview with Cliff Richard.
Sounds and speaks very normal.
In my opinion he always tried to hard to be nice and sound POSH.
Here he is being himself .. nice
Always admired his dress sense 👍👍
Fantastic Interview 😄👍❤
I AM COMPLETELY BAFFLED BY ALL YOU TROLLS!! THIS IS A CLIFF INTERVIEW, NOT AN ELVIS ONE!! IF YOU'RE SO OFFENDED, WHY ARE YOU WATCHING FIRST OF ALL??!! SECOND, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT ABOUT CLIFF!!! YOU SOUND LIKE A GANG OF CLIFF HATERS THAT HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TROLL HIM!! CAREFUL.. THERE'S A FINE LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE, AND YOUR HATE OBSESSION ACTUALLY PRESENTS ITSELF AS ADMIRATION!! WHY FOLLOW AROUND DISPARAGING SOMEONE YOU DISLIKE SO MUCH??? FIND A PRODUCTIVE HOBBY!!!!
Yes this is a Cliff interview, get your facts straight about Cliff.
Cliff knocked Elvis's door in Germany in 1959. He'd missed Elvis, who'd left for work, by 10 mins. There's footage on YT somewhere.
Elvis was on holidays in Italy!
I like Cliff Richards music but he is not on the same level as ELVIS,,,, and to turn down a meeting with Elvis is pure madness and I find it hard to believe Cliff would have done that,,,, majority of people that met Elvis in his lifetime felt so privileged and said he was a kind respectful and a gentleman,,,, the greatest of them all,,,RIP Elvis 🌺
Of course, that's a matter of your OPINION because you favor Elvis. Point of fact is that Cliff is absolutely on the same level if not surpassed. Do you know anything about about Cliff's career and what he's accomplished? You're completely missing the point on why he didn't meet him then.
@@lisowen6003he has not passed Elvis in anything besides years on this earth lol. Elvis is still worth more dead than he is alive
Lennon was disappointed when he eventually met his all-time idol, Elvis.
There was no one like Elvis and there never will be.
Well, yes , true... Elvis is Elvis. Cliff is Cliff. You is you. Me is me.
I don't suppose Elvis' day was too ruined.
Cliff has such a great sense of humour!
Yeah, I just don't find cruelty to animals funny. Seems a lot of people in the audience and on stage do for some reason, unfortunately.
Most Americans could NOT NAME one Cliff Richard song. That is reality!
I can name several beginning with MOVE IT 1958
Do you believe in elf's too?? 🙄🙄🙄
@@mariannelabaThis Yank too. And early 1958 High Class Baby.
@@Elvis_47 You mean Elvis? That's a massive no brainer.
Back in the 70s they could. Devil Woman ranked #6 on the U.S. Hot 100.
Has a Brit I apologise to my American cousins for this, the very idea of not meeting the king when the opportunity rises is beyond comprehension
It's not true, he idolised Elvis and tried his best to meet him in the 50s, don't believe him at all
Your. Just a jealous person
As*
I have the same problem. I won't allow myself to be photoed with an old and wrinkly Cliff.
Cliff was underweight in the brain! Thanks Celebs Up Close!
The English have a great sense of humor. That's why the Beatles were seen this way and turned the American people for a loop.
And no where near as good as he thought he was
In 1980, Harry Webb did officially change his name to Cliff Richard by a deed poll.
Cliff looks good for 45.
It's nice to find out the British music scene in retrospect😅😅🎉🎉🎉🎉
Cliff has many secrets.
He doesn't like Britain now, and considering the state of the place and what England did to him, I don't blame him.
Don't we all?
@@TVStuff10 not secrets like cliff has.
@@weskitten he did it to himself.
You can tell this is from the 80s. They were using "stones" to describe a person's weight.
Cliff Richards is so good looking.
Was looking forward to reading nice comments on here. What a disappointment. If you all feel so negative about Cliff and have no opinion of the other people in this clip why are you watching it in the first place?
Because everyone has an opinion and if you don't like opinions on him that you don't agree with why are you reading them
I like him he has a good voice is very wholesome and he is well spoken.
@@jasonhall4734 not much balance or variety in these comments. Overwhelmingly negative with a narrow focus on Elvis.
Too bad for you. I see. Him in 1977. He was still great. Your loss
Absolute keyboard warriors. Ok to have an opinion but some of the comments here is pure tall poppy syndrome. He's a better singer than these trolls will ever be
He sounds like Marc Bolan here.Underrated , made some great stuff back in the day, especially the soundtrack albums to The Young Ones and Summer Holiday.
Mt first album. Electric warrior. 1973.
I still believe the only reason Wimbledon put a roof on centre court was to stop him singing when it rained. Truly the most boring and over rated pop star this country ever produced.
I can’t believe he missed the opportunity to see Elvis as he was over weight. Cliff Richard has a real ego about himself.
I disagree. He loved and idolized Elvis that he didn't want to see him that way, but wanted to keep his image alive.
EXACTLY RIGHT!@@TheBohemianAngels
Ego had nothing to do with it. We all have it set in our minds of how we want our idol to be. One of his biggest regrets was not meeting him when he had the chance.
Dumb reason not to see him. Don’t believe him
I do. He didn't want to see an overweight Elvis on his fridge. Elcis was so beautiful
This guy couldn't even hold the kings mic 🤡
Who cares?
@@MrEchoes1962 Yes, who cares.
You are not fit to lick Elvis's boots mate 🤣🤣
How relieved Elvis would have been not to meet him
Cliff in '76: hi Elvis, I've got a hit our right now! Have you?
He wasn't a patch on Elvis.
Here Kitty, Kitty!
No I think it was coming out years ago
Must be 400 years old now ffs
Maybe but Elvis is a lot OLDER.😂
A lot of the decisions in regards to who met Elvis when and where and what Elvis did and didn't do on a business level was done by COLONEL PARKER,,,it has been said that John Wayne wanted Elvis to start with him in True Grit but the Colonel turned the idea down as well as the movie A star is born,,,,amongst many other stories,,,, the Colonel was to possessive with his man,,,,,such a shame,,,,RIP Elvis 🌺
oh not elm house then.
Sir cliff has always been a gentleman
True.
U know Elvis wa great don. Say that cliff is not , because he also is great gio aliso Viejo USA you need to check it out
Elvis dodged a bullet there, another wannabe boring him witless.
Actually cliff is better u wnow why Because cliff is alive because he fit it right gio usa aliso Viejo
Sounds like Cliffie was nasty before he found God.
Ill be gutted if we learn posthumously that richards anc saville were best buds.
They ABSOLUTELY WERE NOT!! They happened to be at functions at the same time and Cliff was asked to have his picture taken with him. THEY WERE NEVER FRIENDS AND CLIFF WAS DISGUSTED WHEN HE LEARNED ABOUT HIM!
@@lisowen6003 Very nice research, lisowen.

@frizzle...at least CR has been around long enough to be old and wrinkly! . born October 1940. Wasn't ruined by the Hollyweird machine and sycophantic entourage unlike poor EP.
True.
I didn't know he was Pakistani
@Julie Christophe9 he isnt. Born in Lucknow. His Father worked for the Railway. Dont u know English colonial history? Just because yr born in a stable doesn't make you a horse.
Cliff started out as a rent boy. One of Ronnie Krays favourites apparently.
That isnt a real dog is it
Yes, it's a Spit Terrier. A rare breed.
For Gods sake, the man has a fake hand!😂😂

Yup, he's got his hand up the dogs derriere.

Please tell me you can discern the difference between a puppet and an animal
Then why are you watching his interview😮??!!
The creepy coroner
Coroner?
This Cliff sounds like a poofter?
MAKES ME WONDER IF ELVIS WAS SUCH A GOOD SINGER, HOW COME SO MANY NON SINGERS CAN IMPERSONATE HIM!!!???
He was original and he had a presence. The amount of copy cats is because of this.
@@thevocalcrone NO THE AMOUNT OF COPYCATS IS BECAUSE HE'S EASY TO COPY!!!
@@rontrivett8596Give it your best shot and get back to us!
they try
Nobody can impersonate him. They try, there are 400,000 of them dress and try to sing like him. But not ONE of them can impersonate him 😂
