In the past, Miyazaki has talked about how sometimes the concept art for an armor set is drawn and then a whole character is designed for it after the fact, like with Siegmeyer of Catarina and his rotund, onion-like armor. It's possible Vilhelm and the Burial Knight set had a similar relation, with this unused armor set eventually inspiring the creation of Vilhelm's set, his personality and his role in the DLC.

Interesting. Gladiators(another era obviously) had large waists. A much different set of fighting styles afforded them physiques strongly skewed towards being able to do large swinging motions with heavy weaponry.

Ahhh... the remaster shine on the armour. I can never quite get over it.
Oh, but this is DS3, not 1. I guess the extreme shine/emission when it came to metal armour was intentional after all?
Great choice of music.
I'll always love the Zelda music. You rock.
I’ve seen your kind…
Time and time again…..
I'm really glad you are back after a break. There is absolutely no dip in quality (there wasn't even a possibility of it) and if any other content creator needs an affirmation that breaks are healthy and necessary please take this comment as one. One of the rare jobs nowadays that allows one have a necessary extended holiday
I just wish the algorithm didn’t punish people so severely for breaks in posting schedule.
The set that actually made it into the DLC is one my of my all time favs
The Burial Knight set looks so much better it's not even comparable.
The real part of Vilhelm that stands out is that sick ass chain mail poncho. Literally the coolest.
Vilhelm is one of my favorite NPCs, especially cuz the voice and speech he gives, which is why I've promoted him to boss status in my mid alongside Friede lol
Shout-out to men with deep voices
So glad to see Dark Souls III being looked into again!
"but just as striking is his deep, gravelly voice" oh you have no idea what that voice does to me... Oh boy
Yes I get that a lot, Fear and intimidation I envoke from speaking alone
@@sirvilhelm3569 uh-huh, fear and intimidation, totally what the voice makes me feel pffft
Oh sweet! Been replaying DS3 and just got back to Ariandel. Perfect timing 👍
Vilhelm has one of the best armor sets in the series
Even though Vilhelm's design is slender, it is actually more historically accurate to the armor. Late medieval plate armor was quite well-fitting and would have wasp-waist tampering. So I never took him as a having a feminine frame.
hey, just wanted to say while i'm glad to see you back making these, i hope you mostly get to make and talk about what you want to talk about. i hope the time away was helpful!
Vilhelm is just behind on their voice training, happens to all of us
ayyy glad we're still getting ds3 content
Neat info and fantastic choice of music.
I think the burial set might have been like a variation of the soul of cinder armor set, based on the similar design
Man, I just love your vids, Zullie
