Season 9 was such a tough season to pick a fave. All of the girls were likeable in their own way and all had moments where they excelled. I also really admired how Trinity, Shea and Sasha weren't afraid to "go ugly" for a laugh. So many past queens were too worried about looking pretty all the time.
You can't just tell a depressive person to get their shit together, it doesn't work like that. A lot of the queens were approaching this whole Nina situation the wrong way.

I think she was hoping that this would help bring her out of her immense depression. She even said that she might not be here anymore if she didn't make it this time. That's pretty damn serious. I'm not saying she should have never gone on, I just wish she would have gotten help first.

I really understand Nina. People need to realise that if someone is suffering from anxiety or depression that you can't fix them with kind words. The queens took it way too personal that their "support" wasn't being received by Nina. This is why mental health issues can leave people feeling isolated, because friends just get sick of the same shit. In reality they should just let Nina be and stop shoving their "support" down her throat. Watching them getting frustrated with her was really sad and I feel like they need to just educate themselves. Sasha was the worst...complaining that it's not group therapy when she's the first to help queens bring up body shame, trans issues etc but mental health? Oh nope too hard. Stopped being a fan of Sasha after her eye roll.
Toxic Boy I agree, although I didn't really hate Sasha about it. You are right, saying it's not a group therapy is kinda insensitive, and I think it's because she didn't understand it. She spoke up when Eureka joked about body issues, because it's the issue she can relate to.. It's just sad that they kind of gave up on Nina and didn't know how to deal with her. I believe Nina didn't really need an advice, she just needs someone to be there and listen to her..

It's been a while but the problem here is, as someone that is actually has depression is bipolar (here we only have assumptions and no receipts ,as far as I care tho,) I would never think about going on a show where people will judge me to death and 1000000 people are able to see me fail. Yeah, she might have a low self-esteem. But the queens wanted to be there for her and she blocked it and kept telling herself she isn't good. I know this issue. And at this point I was seeking help. Medically. Ive been through a lot shit. And i now what I am capable of and what not. And miss Brown just didn't thought it through. Look at Adore, she left AS2 bc she has depression and admitted it that this is not the right time and was not in the best condition to be in a competition. And this is something that is important. She isn't 15 anymore where she don't know what to do, she is around 30 and old enough to think. The queens wanted her to make her have a good time. The judges loved her runway looks even though they did called her out in having the same base.
Ofc its hard when u want to do what u like and judges are telling u, no this is not good . That's one of the factors why Adore left. She couldn't be herself. I know there are a lot of queens who did what they did and succeeded.
But back to the point. Miss Nina should have thought about it : am I able to step up my game? Can I work with this pressure every day ? Am I able to have more than just one look? Can I be versatile? Can I actually hold it together and push through? How is it affecting my health physically and mentally? Can I actually do this? It takes balls to just do it and try and error, yes.
You see , she just talked herself down bc the pressure was to much for her and she has given up.
It's sad to see this and it's sad to see that people are mean to the other Queens getting frustrated. It is frustrating for someone to comfort someone that is not 100% happy with oneself. It is frustrating to tell him every day they are loved and stunning and what not. It really is. And Sasha was right. It is not a group therapy at this point.letting her talk herself down is also very wrong. Its like letting someone talk about how they are better off without him . Ignoring someone when they are weak is the worst thing you can do. I know that. When I was younger and I started to say things like : I don't deserve my friends and im just a nuisance.. I just wanted to be held and pampered for that time. I needed someone that just took my by the side and just hold me and say , we love you. I didn't had this , I never had someone that was there for me like Miss Nina has. So it made me a bit upset.
Everyone has to carry their own package but these girls wanted just for that moment to lift a bit of the weight from her. And they tried to talk to her and help her. But well. I just personally think and thought it was not the best decision to go in this competition when I know I have some issues with depression and can't take help.
Nina shouldn't have been on the show if she couldn't handle it and they're right, it's NOT group therapy. They can't Google how to handle this situation during a competition nor should they be expected to know. No one should have to be responsible for getting her out of her funk or even constantly listening to it...They didn't sign up for that. They did try, and it was sweet, but they shouldn't be held responsible.
Nina does deserve true friends - outside of the competition. Hopefully she has at least one person out there that can be a friend to her. But those girls do not owe her that during the competition.
I have had my own experience with depression and it sucks. You're not on a level playing field as the others, and hits that you could normally take, break you down even more. I'm glad she left. It was too much for her emotionally and she wasn't prepared as much as she could be.

Everyone is telling that Valentina thought she was going to win cause she is so pretty and the judges loved her, so she didn't prepare. I think that she was completely paralyzed by fear so she sabotaged herself.
True, I also think that Valentina is smart, and that lipsync could have been a play to get publicity and to then be eligible for All Stars.
Valentina had enough time to learn the words to the song and her lip synch skills were good enough to win. I agree with you that her anxiety was so bad that she just froze. She got along with the queens (except for Aja ), so her confidence must have decreased with every episode until she had none left.
