This is McDonnell's first stint directing a music video. He directed the 2013 horror film Hatchet III, and his rich resume as a motion picture cameraman includes Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Ant-Man and The Interview. For SLAYER's "Repentless," he and the video's producer Felissa Rose pulled together a gang of actors and crew who have been part of some of the most iconic horror films ever made: Derek Mears (Predators, Friday The 13th, Tyler Mane (Halloween), Jason Trost (Hatchet III), Danny Trejo (Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn), Tony Moran (Halloween's Michael Myers, American Poltergeist), Sean Whalen (Men In Black, Halloween II), and Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2, Commando, Weird Science) all are featured inmates in the video. And if that wasn't enough, McDonnell and Rose brought in stunt coordinator Nils Allen Stewart who is known for his work on films like Planet Of The Apes, Anger Management and Daredevil.

Too many odd things... 1. guard will call backup if there is sign of violence/breakout from inmate(s) 2. no inmate would be allowed to keep heavy dumbells in his cell 3. gore n violence really exaggerated for the video (of course no story whatsoever) 4. the inmates charging against the band kept back by one or two guards, then once loose not causing much damage... The basic idea is ok. Execution is professional. Result is meh

I am so glad this band went out with bang. Yeah, sure, they experimented with sound A LOT, but they never got into "radio-friendly" territory, they always remained raw, in your face aggressive sound till the end. FYI, if you haven't seen them live, you've missed A LOT, they were easily the coolest live band performers in metal. You couldn't find a bad Slayer live show even if you look desperately for it.
Facts! 🔥 saw them three times live here in CA, all three concerts were sick. I always ended in the pit by the time slayer came on😎.

I still find Divine Intrevention one of their masterpieces. I really think that's Slayer at it's prime. Thrash Metal should be about you saying "fuck man this is fucking evil, this is kicking ass" as opposed to "i know this, this is Slayer, i can tell!".
