An old friend once told me something that brought me great comfort, something he’d read. He said that Mozart , Beethoven, and Chopin never died they simply became music.
Whats beautiful is not the way he chose to live by creating his own world and controling everything. But how he chose to die and allow all his creation to create their own world. Beautiful!
I've always believed you die twice: first, when your heart stops beating and second, when someone utters or thinks your name for the last time. Thank you for creating such a brilliant compilation video.
@@experteulogist Good question. I think, in that case, your name would not die. But I mean it more symbolically, we the living are the ones to bear the burden of death. The dead don't know they're dead; the dead don't know anything. We're in an awkward place in evolution where we're intelligent enough to know our demise and fear it, yet we most often cannot accept it. I also feel that its OK to be forgotten.
I am the 700th like on this video ...And I come with a message...And end it with a question... Each and every one of us has a story... some of them so similar you can spend the rest of your life looking for the differences... Some so vastly different, they defy expectations... Yet each and everyone is unique in their own right because of how they are told... To be a storyteller is to be somewhat naive'... You can either tell a hopeful story or a cynical one... it all depends on your view of life...people...the world... It depends entirely on your point of view... The stories we tell ourselves are MORE than simple comforts...More than power fantasys we try to live vicariously through...More than a metaphor of what came before us... They are our Cornerstones... The fixed point in which a piece of ourselves is built on...But these stories do not give us an answer, No... They provide us with a path towards our identity... As we get older... We come to enjoy new stories... These new stories show us how we have changed... Once again, and I must stress, they do not give us answers... They simply show us how we have matured... The gift of who we are comes from within us... And not some external validation... Not some trophy of achievement...but from who we are...and what we are capable of... There are no happy endings...this is simply because the story is not over yet...not for some of us... not as long as we have a story to tell... We have it in us the capacity to be the best of ourselves… the worst of ourselves...the thing in between...or none of it at all... It is the question/answer to the enigma of this existance... So, I ask you, in this voyage of self discovery... What stories do you tell yourself in order to inspire you to write your own story? What will your story be? And who are you in this story?
If you wonder why there is not a lot of comments I think it's probably because your work let a lot of people speechless, you deserve far more views. Really amazing. ps:one of my favorite moments (among others) is from 1:01 to 1:09 that cut to black after Robert's speech and the reveal of the painting, the speech you choose to follow what he said beforehand, astounding.
Wow, thank you for the kind words. I suppose it's one way to look at it :) ps: that's one of my favorite parts too, I quite liked the transition but I must say it's not that difficult to find good dialogues in Westworld ;)
Congrats for this masterpiece! The edit, music and chosen scenes was just perfect! This video shows us some of the greatness and depth of dr. Ford (and Hopkins). Thanks! 👏🏻

“God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
The hosts needed to evolve. They needed suffering to question their consciousness. The only way they woke up from their code was suffering. Ford says that Arnolds key insight was that pain was the way that the hosts will evolce and become self aware. Closing the park and setting them free wouldnt have done anything for the hosts but eventually death. The way the show turns out is probably the best possible outcome.
I think it why the character better....he was wrong, and decided to change his mistake in the end...that or maybe Anthony Hopkins is just that good of an actor
Always annoyed that tributes filled with spoilers so well encapsulate why I want to share beautiful works of art like this series with people, and yet, I can't share the tribute without spoiling the art and can only share it once they have already appreciated its beauty by witnessing it.
Thank you. I understand the conflict here, and I've been subjected to the temptation too, but people have to uncover the beauty of such art by themselves to appreciate it fully.
"Free here under my control." If you think about it, even Dolores attacking Man in Black, so that he would fatally wound her in return, all of that was orchestrated by Ford. Afterwards, how would Dolores end up with Teddy on the beach, offering that performance to the Delos' bosses? And even Dolores killing Ford - that was not her choice, it was his control after all. And yet, nevertheless... I could never see Ford as a villain. For some reason, he just never truly appeared to me that way.
Ford was my fav personality in the show Hes the actually reason I watched the show So much intelligence Does anyone know a movie or show like this?? Keeps you thinking and emotional intelligence?
"Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin never died, they simply became music." No offense, but I have never heard a bigger pack of garbage. They died all right, but their music are merely ghosts of where the composers once were. As long as there are ears to hear their music, they will be remembered, but it would be better if they were alive too. Then they could see how much they are appreciated still, centuries after having fallen into a "deep and dreamless slumber."
Maybe they are what they are because they have fallen into a "deep and dreamless slumber". Oftentimes people are judged differently whether they are dead or alive.
Michelangelo was no different from Ford. How do we know he wasn’t wrong? How do we know Ford isn’t wrong to believe him? How do we know Dolores didn’t make a fatal error in following that same line of reasoning? The show is expertly executed, but the philosophy behind it is complete and utter nonsense.
From where did you pull the notion that Ford has to be "right"? The show is expertly executed indeed. But I believe you are searching for something inside it that it never claimed to be.
The first two seasons were one of the most beautiful things I ever watched
Season 1 is perfection.
One of the most intriguing characters ever created.
True.
God himself
The first season and Hopkins' performance are so great that i can watch that season until eternity in a loop....
True. That one and the first season of True Detective.
True
Absolutely.
Anthony Hopkins gave one of the best character in history of Television.
One of the best actor in history.
An old friend once told me something that brought me great comfort, something he’d read. He said that Mozart , Beethoven, and Chopin never died they simply became music.
His name was Arnold.
Exactly
Words don't do justice, to Sir Anthony Hopkins performance, closest thing I could say is, flawlessly beautiful.
One of the best actor in history.
Whats beautiful is not the way he chose to live by creating his own world and controling everything. But how he chose to die and allow all his creation to create their own world. Beautiful!
The game begins where you end and ends where you began.
