    One thing that I get from you guys is that you seem to be very happy with what you've got. You don't seem to need to spend money for the sake of being happy. Thanks for showing me my future by sharing your travels today.

    I traveled the world for six months with a backpack that never weighed more than 15 pounds. I don’t give my bag to anyone. I haven’t checked a bag in over twenty years. I never have to worry about my bag being lost or items stolen. Plus many airlines charge to check bags, not something I want to spend money on. Honestly I am very happy when everything I own is in a backpack. I guess I’m just a minimalist. Everyone travels differently. Great channel We’re in Flowery Branch Georgia. Looking to get back out in the world again soon.

    WOW! I lived in Germany when I was active duty so I didn’t think I’d have much to learn from this video but to say that I was thoroughly educated is an understatement. I would have never thought to attend a live sporting event in another country, but I did that in Europe, so why not everywhere else? I also have a young adult child, but she still lives at home while attending to college and that was a concern of mine, so thank you for addressing that. Your content is pure gold and I’m so glad I came across your channel. Thank you for the information.

    The small items of home ownership add up, but how about big ticket items - Home mortgage , taxes, heat bills , water bills, garbage removal, the cost of buying a car, car insurance , car repair , internet, home repairs ( roofs, furnaces, new blacktop driveway , ect . ) that $4.000 years two week vacation - this puts on an endless treadmill . Four thousand a month to live abroad - I'll take it. The USA is far a wonderful place to live in anymore !

    Yeah, that insurance thing. We've used ACA here and there. I'm currently working a contract job that offers health insurance so we're not eligible. Instead, we pay $1,100 a month! My contract is up in June and I plan on traveling!

    Finally finished your video. Was going through it in bits and pieces because I've been busy.
    I've been considering full time travel (or at least, a more "long term" part time traveling) -- was wondering about any sort of hotel stays / cheap rates / travel hack tips you may have. Like, if I wanted to say, just as one example -- move around the US (spending a week and a half in each state until I've been to them all, as an example), what would be the best course of action? Regular hotels? Extended stays? Long term rentals? AirBnB/VRBO/etc? What would be a good course of action for a Europe trip? That sort of thing.
    Also, not sure if you are Apple or Android folk [I forget if you've told us is all], but for good pictures of things on trips, would an iPhone 14 camera be sufficient or would it help to have an extra more "travel ready camera" instead? This is more so a "would just the iphone camera be okay to use if you're on a budget and cant afford more equipment" question.

    • @GroundedLifeRetirementTravel
      @GroundedLifeRetirementTravel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There really isn't a good way to do that cheaply in the US, you can use Airbnb, but the monthly rates don't kick in until you stay 28 nights. The cheapest hotel chain is IHG, using bought points and the credit card. Sure, an iphone should take very nice photos! We take most of ours with our Pixel phone.

    • @dimanimatedtakes
      @dimanimatedtakes 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I may just have to get the IHG card, I've been considering it for a while anyway based on this video and others. I saw there's two different ones - one with an annual fee and one without. Any major difference or negative financial impact on the one with? Or not really?
      Also, I know you guys mostly do grounded travel -- but do you have any tips for flights or miles/points and any advice on how to look out for "cheap" flights? Either domestic or international @@GroundedLifeRetirementTravel

    Just remember, the ACA doesn't care when you "lost your job", it will base it on your last 12 months of income....and if you're over the assisted level, you don't get a discount...it's probably more expensive than even COBRA. I love that you guys tackled these "myths". While I may not do travel fulltime, I'm considering making some changes that will allow for several trips a year.

      The point of the ACA being the fallback is not the cost, it is that they accept pre existing conditions.

    English is a mandatory subject in Japanese junior high and high school. So they definitely have the foundation, but they don’t have a lot of opportunities to practice. I noticed many younger Japanese are eager to converse in English with you because they want the practice.

    quick question regarding the medical... Do you miss having a dedicated Primary Care physician? or is that a concern at all... I'm thinking about folks who might have long term medical issues, like high blood pressure and want to get treated by the same doctor? Thanks :)

    Insurance is a problem for me. Having an ACA plan with no deductible and paying $48/month there is no way I can get that anywhere but the US. My income is low so that is why I qualify. So, for me, it is a problem. Plus having pre-existing conditions on medications further compounds that problem. My medications alone would be in the thousands per month not having my plan. Currently I pay only $60 month for all my prescriptions.
    As for income, I thought Rob said he sells pictures and made a lot of money there? Plus you have this yt channel and perks such as affiliates that is bringing in lots of monthly income. It's just harder for someone on a limited income to go out an do this. Not saying not possible it is just a lot harder without a large amount of money or income as a safety net.
