I've got a handful of the 2024 models, the Radical SR3 XXR is my favourite. I think this is the first open-cockpit Radical that made it into 1:64 scale.
Matchbox has been amazing this year and it'll definately be better next year since Matchbox has started to release the 2025 Mainline as well Moving Parts! Amazing video for #MatchboxMonday!
Great video. My top 3 matchbox cars of 2024. are 1) 1963 Bizzarini 5300 GT 2) the Porrsche 356B, and 3 the Shell BMW E30 M3. Also a shout out to the Triumph Spitfire MK3 and the Mini Cooper EV, both fabulous models too. That Bizzarini though. Probably the best matchbox model ever in my opinion. Love it so much. Keep up the amazing work. Looking forward to the next video. Best wishes Michael. (:
I can see I'm going to have to look for the Chevy truck at 5:54. I used to deliver groceries in one like that. Same color even. The 356 looks like a near perfect casting for a little toy car and I like the Shell BMW, too. I already have the '63 Corvette convertible and the Morgan Plus 4 (both impulse buys) and I'm real pleased with both of them! Great year for new Matchboxes!
If you ask me, the vintage Audi is the finest one MBX has ever done. Personally, I'd love to see a Jensen Interceptor on down the line, this one I really want the most!
I'm with you on ditching the Collectors line. Don't care for those. However, the moving parts line is amazing. My favorite. And I feel MB has been out doing HW the last few years.
Out of your display I only have five ( by sheer luck ) , would like to find at least ten more , e. g. Silverado, Oldsmobile ( never knew that one existed ), Bronco. Matchbox should do a deep dive into the "Muscle car" era '65- '75 of all makes and models and including Monte Carlos, Gran Torinos...
the moving parts Case R was a real banger, but as usual, scalpers are swapping out the jeep and selling the jeep for more than the whole case cost. The "regular" cars from Matchbox are awesome.
Been looking for the Javelin, C-1500, Bronco and Prius for most of the year in Montreal. Haven't been able to find them. Quite a number of years ago, the moving parts were mixed with the basic models. My favorite is the Jaguar XJ coupe.
Matchbox is extremely underrated. Mostly because they don't follow the fan boy hype train. Their blue carded cousin just does 10 different Skylines and 10 different Hondas, and tosses in a few Chevy trucks for good measure, and collectors will break laws if they have to to get them all ! HW doesn't put effort into any of their non skyline/Honda stuff, and their RLC cars continue to get worse and worse in quality. MB is the absolute KING of regular traffic and the KING of crisp details. If HW and MB were to both do their own version of the same exact model, MB will beat them 100% of the time. Their cars have more accuracy in scale, smoother clean pain, better crisp casting lines, and MUCH better detailed tampos. Compare a HW C8 Corvette and a MB C8 Corvette and the differences are obvious and it's no contest, the HW looks like a cartoon toy.
Agreed on the Matchbox wheel situation. The paint on the Basics is typically very nice, and the details are usually fantastic. As a result, most of the models REALLY shine with simple wheel swaps. After that, if not for the plastic bases, they'd rival most HWs premiums.
I actually passed up the Collector Shell M3 the first time I saw it. I regretted it so bad. I ended up going back to the same spot and found one a month later. Didn’t pass on it a second time 😂 I also have both Colorways of the Sport Tourismo. Awesome car as you had mentioned.
Thanks for your review! I see a some that I want to track down, the Stingray, the Aston Martin DBS and the Lamborghini Spider. That Lincoln is spectacular, but doesn't fit my collection theme. I own the Bizzarini and the Morgan. Also ones not shown, the Shell BMW E30 M3, and the Range Rover. All are very nice.
Love * love * LOVE that liftback Celica - but I do agree it'd be better with "basic" wheels over the weird big premium wheels that make it sit too high.
As a kid in the 70s I never bought hot wheels. I looked for realistic cars and bought matchbox. Even now I lean toward matchbox. I like their variety over hot wheels.
I got thinking about this. The Audi is likely the one at the top for me. It is a nice odd car that most companies would overlook. I have not seen it, but the aston martin looks good. It would be nice to take up a bit and combine the moving parts with the basics and create a slightly more expensive but nice line matchbox that would be more like the olds I had as a kid in the 1960s era.
Bizzarrini! The Javelin hung because they neglected the grille and front tampos. I wish the collectors line had better stances. Great castings that sit ridiculously high.
I’ve completely given up collecting new hot wheels from the mainline. In fact out of the last unboxing I watched I only wanted the dodge ram recolor cuz I already have the other ones (I don’t even like trucks that much either) however I wanted at least 6 models from the latest mix. So I’m only focusing on new matchbox models or older obscure brands online. As far as models being hard to find I can attest to never seeing the 1st field car release, the Indiana Jones Auburn, or any “41” Plymouths in the wild.
Mmm, not that happy about the IG competition but I understand there's a LOT of new models. I liked the poll because they show better which models were popular and which not. Thanks for the video anyway, great job!
For me it's in-between the supra GR and Porsche outlaw but me being the THE JDM DUDE number 1 SUPRA sorry I know the rules of the contest but. I'm loyal to Japanese cars with few exceptions
Check out Pop Race, a Macau-based scale model manufacturer that make scale models with opening parts, like the hood and trunk lid. Their RX-7 FD3S RE-Amemiya's hood panel gap is so tight, you probably wouldn't know it opens until you're told/shown so.
They didn't have a good year with stocking. Why they don't stock well is interesting. Moving Parts, 5 packs and mainlines were all stocked here in a sporadic manner. Never saw more than 30% of these cars in stores.
I hope that you will put the results on TH-cam simply because I don’t do Instagram. I love the bronco I love the supra GR. I had the truck in my hands and put it back in. Never saw it again. Picked up the Harry Potter, car for my daughter instead. Do you have a question for all you matchbox gurus. Early in this year I found a matchbox black card of the Mercedes at the dollar general. Still cannot figure out and not found out much information about that black cart and so if anybody knows please share. Thanks for doing the videos again I truly enjoyed them.
MBX had a brilliant year ! Since Matchbox 65th anniversary they have been churning out some of the best castings in 1/64 scale . Sure there's not much fanfare to the brand but it's always great to find those gems on the pegs when other brands are just not to be found .
Instagram tournament was terrible idea. Dude left out many good models and made this all inaccurate. Do it properly and like normal. This years lamleu awards are irrelevant now.
I AM SAYING IT AGAIN. MATCHBOX SHOULD FOLLOW THE FOOTSTEPS OF HOTWHEELS CAR CULTURE PREMIUM! They can make great cars without any opening features (please don't) and we can have Matchbox Premium lineup like the Matchbox superfast series.
Matchbox would be more popular if they just made better rims/wheels. The castings are great and usually have better details than Hot Wheels. But they use the same boring and ugly wheels on too many cars. You're top 2 picks have the same fake looking steelies that they slap on half of the cars they make. Rims Matchbox... Rims!
@@norsefalconer I’m think Mattel doesn’t want their flagship brand upstaged by Matchbox and that’s why the wheel/rim choice sucks. Kinda like how Chevy did the same to their “lesser” brands.
@lamleygroup You forgot way to much nice castings from Matchbox for this year! How about the new and old Jeep Wagonneer, Ford Fiësta, Porsche Macan, VW Golf GTE, Radical, Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagode, Ford Anglia, Alfa Romeo Tonale and Nissan Pathfinder? And that are only basics, the moving parts had even more nice models to offer! So I think hou should step up your game a bit and catch up with matchbox, because they deserve a bit more attention then unboxing 3 times the same hotwheels case in a row.
In 2024 MBX was the way to go vs HW if you are only spending $1.18. For 2025 the quality is going down and the proportions are starting to look off like the upcoming Integra. LC 500 is good even though convertibles don't ping with most collectors.
Been collecting matchbox since I was a kid. They always have more realistic vehicles. Hot wheels seems about 50% junk aimed at kids. You don't seem as timely on your Matchbox videos compared to Hot Wheels. Why is that?
Lol everyone mad who replied to u. I was the same way, I collected Matchbox as a kid as well because they were always more realistic and cooler to me. I wonder the same thing about why he doesn’t seem to be more involved or engaged with Matchbox.
I think Matchbox's scaling and detail is superior than Hot Wheels in most cases... particularly their offerings in the last 5 years or so. Again I say if Mattel would let them up their wheel package designs, they would most certainly compete better. Having said that...Mattel should just sell Matchbox and let them do justice to the great people they have working there and free them up to compete better. Matchbox has more American offerings and they don't release a Nissan Skyline every other week. I love American Muscle, Classic cars, German and Italian Sport Cars. The JDM and Imported Japan offerings do absolutely nothing for me. I have been gravitating more to Matchbox and M2 because their marketing is more in my wheelhouse of taste. And I say that as a longtime Hot Wheels collecter. Hot Wheels needs a dose of maturity in there offerings. Just because it says Nissan, Toyota on it...doesn't mean it's held with the same esteem as other manufacturers. I realize that's just my opinion, and that's why I'm saying it. Ultimately each of us are gonna buy what appeals to them. And these opinions are what many of my friends and I reflect with our purchasing decisions.

Absolutely Matchbox has had a great year. I wish we could get them in more stores.

Honestly i couldnt believe my eyes when i first saw the Bizzarini.
Nice to see the Bizzarini love.

The k1500 is my favorite as well, quintessential matchbox! My runner up is the ‘78 bronco
I'm honestly surprised you didnt include the 1992 Buick Roadmaster.
To me thats the best casting of the year.
Because he is a total mess with these this year. Mattel needs to take away the promotional rights for him.
Agreed💯
If you ask me, the vintage Audi is the finest one MBX has ever done. Personally, I'd love to see a Jensen Interceptor on down the line, this one I really want the most!
I’m surprised the Land Rover camper didn’t make the video. That’s my number one
Doing cars like the Prius is EXACTLY why i love matchbox
I'm with you on ditching the Collectors line. Don't care for those. However, the moving parts line is amazing. My favorite. And I feel MB has been out doing HW the last few years.
That Chevy pickup you really like will appear in red next year
The bizzerini is insane. I remember an old road and track that covered a blue one. Super super rare, but very beutiful.
Yep I think the Chevy truck is going to be a hard one to beat. I'm a little shocked that the Buick Roadmaster did not make it into your top 5!
the moving parts Case R was a real banger, but as usual, scalpers are swapping out the jeep and selling the jeep for more than the whole case cost. The "regular" cars from Matchbox are awesome.
I’m not a ford fan, but I think the bronco would be my vote for the best executed model. It’s beautiful
Matchbox is more detailed rather than hotwheels mainline
Been looking for the Javelin, C-1500, Bronco and Prius for most of the year in Montreal. Haven't been able to find them. Quite a number of years ago, the moving parts were mixed with the basic models.
My favorite is the Jaguar XJ coupe.
I'm on the south shore of Montreal & also had no luck with the Bronco and OBS Chevy, surprisingly the Javelin was a peg warmer in my area.
Matchbox is extremely underrated. Mostly because they don't follow the fan boy hype train. 1. the BMW Shell 2. Toyota Supra 3. 1963 Bizzarini 4. Chevy C10 (teal color) 5. Orange Lamborghini
As a kid in the 70s I never bought hot wheels. I looked for realistic cars and bought matchbox. Even now I lean toward matchbox. I like their variety over hot wheels.
In a way ,i wish you were doing the polls. I need to look at what they did to at least post my favorite ones. They have a lot great castings.
I got thinking about this. The Audi is likely the one at the top for me. It is a nice odd car that most companies would overlook. I have not seen it, but the aston martin looks good. No Buick Roadmaster woodie wagon? That would be my to pick for '24.
Stunning model was the 356…. Thanks to eBay I added it to my collection 🎉
Wow, i have only seen a few of this on stores: and is already end of the year:

Lots of great models but the continental is a masterpiece at that price point
I want the RX-3, Celica and Shell BMW. I haven't seen them yet.
Nothing on the Buick Roadmaster Wagon?
lol got tossed off the table with the Autozam.. lol
You'll see it tonight in the tournament. I have two. Forgot about them and the Land Rover for the video after choosing my top models.
always had matchbox since i was young but now i only collect the premieres or old superfasts
I open everything and I wheels swap almost everything unless it has real riders already.😂
What do you use to keep them closed? Four or epoxy?
I pick the Ford Bronco.
The AMC Eagle not included? It’s last year and disqualified? It’s my favorite matchbox I’ve found on pegs in years
It was a 2023 model debut. The recolor in black was the 24 edition.
My #1 fav is the SVJ
If you want realism go with Matchbox, if you want fantasy choose Hot Wheels.
For me it's in-between the supra GR and Porsche outlaw but me being the THE JDM DUDE number 1 SUPRA sorry I know the rules of the contest but. I'm loyal to Japanese cars with few exceptions
I hoped this will be classic poll, I don't have Instagram unfortunately...
Yeah, I like matchbox basic better than moving parts. I don’t like the moving parts because of the gaps.

Or because a lot of them don’t even open properly. I mean, what’s the point?
The Continental does it for me.

The bmw had metal base rubber tires?? Pls reply brother! ❤
CSL is plastic base
I have the blue chevy
Lexus lfa?
Great cast, but the new wheels on rubber tires are a let-down...
