This is the first time I've watched anything about tie dye, and it was so informative and interesting! No awful music and super vague instructions! Thank you! I did see an Instagram post about the swirl method, and they used a plastic fork to spin the shirt in on itself! It made it look so easy! Thank you!
Love your vlog, what made it great to watch was the quick change from what you did to finished design. Particularly liked the swirl and the sombre effect. Only thing stopping me is no supplies, have saved your vlog so I can watch over and over thanks for sharing x
Great tutorial especially as it mentions the little things that other tutorials don't. Has anyone tried tie dye on a more loosely woven fabrics like muslins, and if the techniques work similarly?
Can you do a video if you’re trying to tie dye a shirt but you want to leave a specific design going all the way around either the sleeve or the neck etc. for example you wanna have a little hearts in plain white and then the rest of it color how would you do that
Sorry my response is late, in my experience if you cover an area with clear Elmer’s glue and let it dry completely it will repel the dye, I would try it on something you don’t like first!
going to tie dye in quarantine! you probably wont see this but do you think it's possible to tie dye with just acrylic paint? thanks for the tutorial its really helpful though haha
I tried the stripe method with the airplane fold but it kind of backfired on me and only dyed the ends of the shirt and hardley any got it in the middle

Im not sure you could see the colors on a black t shirt.... but maybe you could paint an ombre affect with bleach

You can make your own dye with plant pigments, beets, berries, etc. They turn out really well. I mostly use synthetic dyes to get brighter colors.

Your colors are not bright or vibrant. They are way too dull when you are done. Are you using soda ash? They should be much brighter when completed.
