Cleaning this made LTA much less nervous while engaged with radar cruise control. It still nibbles a bit on curves but is much more enjoyable. For longer drives I am investing in a Comma 3X. Full autonomous driving for only $1200!!!

Question: I have a 2018 RAV4 and the rear-view set up looks identical to this as does the windshield from the outside. However, I cannot find info identifying the location of the front camera location. I’m hoping it is in this location but we’ll see I guess. Was traveling far from home and got the message about the camera not working and wasn’t able to determine location. Thank you.

Quick question saw your video. Just wanted to know so i have a sun banner installed on my front windshield blocking the camera. If I just leave it unplugged will that help stop getting the pop up display on my dashboard?
How do I reattach mine. The sun melted the putty that attaches it to the windshield i am now using tape to hold it on? Nothing is working there is a black plastic film. Do i remove the film and attach to glass?
I'd like to remove this and the radar emitters completely. I hate these features and want them permanently turned off. Any suggestions?

In that case only solution- OEM windshield from the dealer.
Yes. You have to perform a “recalibration” of the Front Recognition Camera when replacing the windshield or parts that are related to TSS. Such as the millimeter wave radar sensor or mounts/brackets. And it’s recommended (and maybe necessary) when simply just unplugging any of the components.
What is that camera for I have it on my xle but not sure what it does?
It is part of Toyota safety sense 2.0. Together with the front radar, it is responsible for the adaptive cruise control and lane tracing assist.
Did the camera removal turn on any dash warning lights? Had to get my windshield replaced in my 2020 RAV4 and had warning lights. Had to get my camera calibrated.
No, we actually didn't have any warning lights after the removal and reinstall.

First clean with damp sponge and wipe dry then use hexane to finish

This camera is part of Toyota Safety Sense. Together with the front radar it allows the vehicle to utilize such features as lane tracing assist, dynamic cruise control and lane departure alert.

Warning: If you remove the camera (plugged or unplugged), the vehicle will register that the camera has been removed and will require a $200-300 re-calibration.
We actually did not get any warnings on the dash after the removal and installation of the camera. Toyota Safety Sense kept working without issues.
