Mysterious Kailas temple of Ellora caves which is a UNESCO World heritage at Aurangabad in Maharashtra in India. There are 34 ancient cave temples in Ellora. Out of them cave 16 is known as Kailash Temple. Kailash temple is the world's largest rock-cut monolithic structure. It is still a mystery how such a huge temple was craved out of rock.
Kailash temple was made during reign of King Kroshna 1 (756 c.e to 773 c.e). It is estimated that 3000000 cubic feet of rocks whos approximate weight is 300000 tons were cut in just 18 year. That is 16000 tons of rocks were excavated per year. This turns out to be 44 tons per day. And 11 working hour per day means 4 tons of rocks were excated per hour. This seems to be a challening task even today. How did they did it 1200 years ago...
This is the main mystery of Kailash temple of Ellora caves.In this video we are in the Kailash Temple of the ancient caves of Ellora-Ajanta near Sambhajinagar (erstwhile Aurangabad), Maharashtra., this Mahadev mandir is a breathtaking example of ancient rock-cut architecture dating back to the 8th century, it is one of the oldest Hindu temple in the world and one of the most beautiful historical temples in India!!.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and features intricate carvings and sculptures that cover its entire exterior, including a grand depiction of Lord Shiva's mount, Nandi.
We were amazed by the unique architectural design, showcasing the stunning resemblance to Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva. The temple also includes many gods and goddesses ( devi-devta ) of the Hindu pantheon, making it a significant religious site for Hindu devotees.
This UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-see for anyone interested about India history or architecture enthusiast and is considered one of the best examples of rock-cut architecture in India.
The mysterious and historic Kailash Temple was built by Rashtrakutas and is dedicated to Bhagwan Shivji. The walls of this temple have statues depicting Hindu epics like Mahabharat and Ramayan.
