    Moon lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo was BEYONDD IMAGINABLE. Soo underrated. The storyline was BOLD. They weren’t afraid to kill or change the characters at all!! After watching it, It inspired me to write my own stories and learn how to draw while listening to the soundtrack, which btw is great. • @pirimpallopirimpalli4932
      @pirimpallopirimpalli4932 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a remake of the Chinese original series Scarlet Heart. Both series are historical, so you kinda can feel the writers wracking their brains to find matching references in Korean history to keep up the plot. Also, like many remakes, you can tell they were going for the more romantic and less adult themes (the Chinese is mostly about personal growth, history knocking over personal life, royal conspiracies, the burden of living in constant fear for one's life etc.). Big cast, somewhat awkward adaptation, angst and drama... In short, it's a remake and it shows.

    Wow, did not expect this list.
    I absolutely LOVE Dr. Romantic, so I can understand the stiff competition Hwarang faced. Irrespective, having seen literally ALL the 10 dramas, I suppose it is a case of bad luck (slot timing) and missing out on the current Kpublic appetite, that did not see these dramas succeed.
    On a different note, "Uncontrollably Found" is a diamond. I saw it when it was released and just weeped my eyes out in the last episode.

      It’s true there are better high school dramas out there, but it was a fun watch. I’m sure my perspective is skewed since their relationship in the webtoon is much healthier than in the drama. I have watched Nevertheless at least three times. I loved this drama. It is a great portrait of the popular guy and the way they behave, nevertheless…. True feelings in normal and ordinary life are what we all seek in the end. The beautifully filmed love scenes are wonderful, but also the feelings of the girl who is not sure if it’s only sex or he is someone real in her life strongly resonate with us. I loved the performances, both beautiful actors, and writing of this drama. I believe the questions of all the characters are extremely well shown. An incredibly beautiful strong cast show a true slice of real life. I simply loved it and enjoyed it so much as to watch it again in the future.

    This phenomenon is soooo common. I am from Barbados living in Japan and there are so many anime that are God-level on the international sccene and noone has heard of them here. I always have a similar experience talking to tutors in Korea and Taiwan about my fave shows and they are like, "Really? Nobody even watched that here." I think it is one of the perks of Netflix getting into Asian drama, though. We can get Asian drama that might not even get made in Korea, but that international fams will love.

It made me learn about Korean history, culture, customs and now I even started to learn the language. The acting was so good. The camera work, the songs, the story, all of it. So far I have watched the film three times. So good. After that I "crush landed" on the brilliant Hwarang. All about this film is so very good. I have seen most of these 'rejected' films and they all are very good. I would like to come to Korea and visit the film studios where these films were produced. True Beauty I think was a surprise to me. I read the webtoon and really liked it, but the live action really brought it to life. The acting was very good, I felt every emotion the characters felt. I was bullied in school, so this also struck a cord with me. I found myself laughing, crying, getting excited and upset. I loved the drama so much that I've already seen it twice.
    Weightlifting fairy was really good as well. I absolutely loved the plot and actors. It was a little different from what you normally see, which is why I loved it
    Scarlett heart Ryo was really good. I loved the main actress as well as the all the princes. It had me really wanting for the scarred prince and her to get together as I loved their dynamic. Then towards the end you're like, oh know why, he was on his way to be the best choice for king.... I still love the drama, it was really good.

      Honestly the drama is way better than the webtoon. In the webtoon Ju-kyung never really gets character growth, she stays shallow and stuck on appearances way too much but in the drama she overcame that and became confident. Sure, there were tons of cliché scenes but it's also what makes it so damn good. It's very self aware about it. One of my very faves k-dramas !

    I'm one of those International viewers and live in the States. Aside from the fact that I live in Los Angeles which has dozens of Asian stations, I also have VIKI and KOCOWA. I basically watch most of my dramas on my streaming Apps, no commercials. It does not surprise me that they received low ratings and as you reported it could have been the time slot and other dramas they were competing against. I watched them all and enjoyed them, even those where the writing falters and the drama drags a bit. There is also the Korean audience in general, their age group and the topics of the dramas. I do know that older audiences begin to lose touch with the latest actors and who or where they are from. I for one because I'm old, I look into the internet the actors, their background and their experience. It really helps. Koreans tend to be conservative and many still stick to old views and ideas.I understand why they wouldn't like "Nevertheless", "Doom At Your Service" or for that matter "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo". With K-dramas now going international on Netflix, Viki, Kocowa, Amazon Prime, Apple, etc., etc.
    It won't matter what the Korean public thinks, because making money is what it's all about. I must admit that I love K-dramas because they are old-fashioned and remind me of the unrealistic Hollywood films I saw when I was young.

      I'm there with you on your last sentence. I love kdramas very much for many reasons.
      1: I love that in many dramas falling in love is built up and they don't have sex immediately or at all. I love a good love scene, but, I think the kdramas build it up so we'll, that when you finally get the kiss scene, you're so happy for it
      2: Not all dramas are made with multiple seasons in mind, so, the acting and content is so good. I rarely find a drama (whose synopsis sounds good) where the acting is bad enough for me to stop watching... If I stop watching, it's usually because I'm not interested in the plot.
      I do check out the actors to see what else they've been in and what they will be releasing soon.

    I'm honestly shocked at Scarlet Heart's domestic reception. That drama was breathtaking and to this day I yearn for a 2nd season.
