- Kenneth Chesebro, James Troupis and Michael Roman were each charged in Wisconsin with a single felony count of forgery in connection to a 2020 fake electors scheme. The trio was allegedly involved in an attempt to subvert Wisconsin’s presidential election results and falsely declare Donald Trump the winner of the state’s 10 electoral votes.

We need RCV also. To get the electoral laws changed, we need to elect super majorities of democrats who share that goal. For RCV, we need to collect signatures for all of the states that have public ballot initiatives.
The Electoral College should be abolished. It was established as a guard against the election of a black guy as President by popular vote and, as such, violates the Racial Discrimination Act.

Because the U.S. Constitution says that we do it with an Electoral College. The only way to change that would be by amending the constitution. Simply PROPOSING a new amendment requires a 2/3 vote of the House and Senate or if 2/3 of all states request one by a convention called for that purpose. There are very few issues that rise to the level of amending the constitution where you could get the bipartisan support needed to reach 2/3rds of Congress or states.
Obviously, this would require Democrats to have enough votes to get to 2/3 without Republicon help. The GOP would never agree to ending the unfair advantage that the Electoral College has given to them in recent history. Since Bill Clinton won in 1992, there have been 12 years under a GOP presidency, which would have only been 4 years if we used the popular vote.
Actually, there may not have even been 4 years of GOP rule. Bush narrowly won the popular vote in 2004 as an incumbent running for reelection. The GOP wouldn't have had an incumbent in 04 if Al Gore was running for reelection after winning the popular vote in 2000 and serving 4 years as president.
Just IMAGINE what the country would be like if Al Gore was in HIS 2nd term as president instead of Bush in 2005 to appoint a different Chief Justice instead of Bush picking Roberts, and in 2006 to pick someone else instead of Bush picking Alito. The attacks on democracy that we have seen since--such as Citizen's United and attacks on the Voting Rights Act would have been ruled unconstitutional. Racial and Partisan Gerrymandering would be unconstitutional.

In the United States, it requires a Grand Jury to decide if there is enough evidence to charge a person with committing a criminal offense. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the actual trial, that's one of the main reasons they take so long.
So when it gets to trial, you know that it’s not just the prosecutors off on a frolic. Doesn’t get mentioned as much as it could, relative to the NY trial
Federally, a grand jury is only required in serious felony cases (cases with a possible 6 month or more prison sentence and/or $1000 or higher fine). States are not required to use grand juries at all, though some do for serious charges. The vast majority of people charged with crimes in this country will not have a grand jury decide if they should face the charges. Usually, it will happen at a preliminary hearing in front of a magistrate--which is when most guilty pleas are entered to avoid going to trial.

The actual Presidential Records Act applies to any and all documents, classified or not, that is not legally, their personal property. It applies to anything related in any way to running this Country. Personal bank accounts no, anything paid for from our taxes, yes.
