Problem of take my breath was that the beat and flow was too...choppy? The song is not flowing unless you are listening to the concert version with all the echoes, reverbs and ambience. So at first listening people were not that pumped as they could have been. Also...people were starting to get tired of this whole 80s pop sound which is with us for years now in the mainstream.
Did you read theweekend’s caption? It’s from Neitzche Nietzsche's quote “He who fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you” is a cautionary tale about the dangers of engaging in a struggle against an oppressive force.
@@cobramasculinity9022 hmmm…here’s my take on Hold your Heart video snippet: This young Abel seems to be reaching up for what seems to be heaven, and all the caricatures of his past versions “Theweeknds” holds his entry from the gates of heaven. Because we all know how The Weeknd gets down and therefore does not deserve heaven from other albums and stories told, but Abel does. He is deserving of redemption. This album being his last as “The Weeknd” is essentially his awakening.
The Weeknd was promoting/teasing his upcoming album that time named "After Hours". which talks about his sins, pain, regrets, long story short, he's pertaining to hell. the album dropped on 2020. two years later, he released "Dawn FM". a conceptual album that primarily talks about the lessons that he learned (character development) and the pain, guilt and shame that he has experienced. long story short, it is purgatory and it is about his self reflection, self realization, self forgiveness, and about finding God. and lastly, this year, 2024, he's been teasing about the last album which will be the last part of his trilogy. based on his ig stories/posts, the upcoming album is about the after life, rebirth or paradise or (heaven), where he will be resurrected as a new being because he found God. i also think his trilogy is based on "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri, which tells a story about a character named "Dante" and his journey from hell to purgatory and to paradise. i think in The Weeknd's upcoming trilogy, After Hours is hell, Dawn FM is purgatory, and the upcoming album which is the last installment of the trilogy, will be heaven or paradise. (he teased this on his ig post). those were just my theories as a fan that are based on his teasers, and here are some facts. "The Weeknd" is just a character that Abel (The Weeknd's real name) portrays. it's a character that he created to connect with people. The Weeknd is not Abel. it's just a character. he said in an interview that the upcoming album will be his last album as "The Weeknd". he said that he'll still make songs, but as Abel, not as The Weeknd. the last album will be his last hurrah as The Weeknd. i hope this somehow gave answers to your questions and confusions. have a good day, and God bless us all! 🙏✨
In case you didn't know that last song at the end of the video Abel actually played it on IG live back in 2020 right after he released After Hours. This version on this new video is clearly way more polished for the final album. Look up "Hold Your Heart" and you can hear the demo from back in 2020.
Dawn FM is the masterpiece, I absolutely agree! Also I wanted to say: "The Knowing" (holding the heart) + "Snowchild" (the entire story) = "Hold Your Heart" / "Afterlife". And I've posted the slowed version of the "Hold Your Heart" song two years ago with the cover that represents my view on how the afterlife feels.
Actually first it was Bella hadid, for about a year. He worked with her for BBTM. After that he dropped Starboy, and then he started dating Selena Gomez for about 10months, then My Dear Melancholy. Then Afterhours, and so on…
I totally agree. Dawn FM is underrated. I think he wanted Take My Breathe to be the hit single but it wasn’t too popular. Dawn FM is an experience.
I agree dawn fm is super underrated but its still not my favorite
I can’t believe Less Than Zero was never released as a single
Ye, take my breath was the only single on the album tho

There is a masterpiece there called less than zero
Got that teaser on repeat since it dropped yesterday. Sounds heavenly. And I'm so happy ''Hold your heart'' will get an actual release.
Watch it just be for teasing similar to Kendrick
Righttt I can’t stop rewatching it my heart can’t take it feels like we finna be out of time

Did not read that! If that’s the theme he’s going with then I’m sold

I believe the story he is trying to tell about his life with this new trilogy
After Hours= Hell
Dawn FM= purgatory
???= paradise
Wonder if his interpretation of paradise is still close to what the rest of us would consider it to be
