My thoughts exactly. My son spent 2 months in NICU recently, one day a baby and 2 ladies came in, they weren't in uniform but it was obviously prisoner and guard.
I've spent months on 3 or 4 NICU units, most of the time babies aren't crying but this baby had the most awful cry I'd ever heard. Presumably withdrawal and the look on the mum's face was complete shock, it seemed like the reality of her choices had just hit home.

This young lady looks ill. I don't think it is from being pregnant but being pregnant and using meth. I so totally hate that drug; it turns wonderful people into uncaring zombies. This world is so messed up and the drugs out on the streets today are destroying so many lives.

It should also be no benefits if your an addict - give her treatment or nothing. As an addict myself, 5 years sober, I can say that with a clear conscience. I understand there is context and they don’t want people committing crimes to get their drugs but if that’s the risk, then they can dry out in jail and then job training resources upon release to stay busy. There are a number of advocacy programs for people looking for work after jail/prison, there are centres for free clothing for job interviews, one of the universal truths of addiction and recovery is accountability- and a genuine desire, demonstrated through actions to succeed in sobriety. It’s never a linear journey, however, it’s fairly clear when someone wants to get sober versus when they don’t. All the resources in the world won’t make an addict recover, only the addict can do that.

I got a ticket in 2010 for not wearing a seat belt. In 2015 I called the cops because some strange guy was in my yard walking around and it was just my baby and I home so I got nurvous. Cops showed up but he was already gone. The cop asked me for Id and I handed my expired Id right to him. He said I had a bench warrant. I was shocked! I had to hand my baby over to the female cop while the male cop put me in handcuffs. I cried like a baby, never got arrested before. Come to find out, they said I didn't pay the seatbelt ticket 5 years prior (I know I paid that $35 ticket). Sat in jail for 30 hrs till my husband came up with $700 cash to get me out (had to pawn our car title). What I'm getting at is, this woman gets all these felonies, constantly getting in trouble but barley gets punished!
In 2013 When my mom passed away a year after my dad and I went into a deep depression and stopped driving. So that's why I didn't know I had a warrant. If I would've tried to renew my license, I'm sure they would've let me know I had a warrant. 😥. Hope y'all have a great weekend❤

Yea, the laws have certainly changed, especially under the current administration - or more importantly, the DA’s and judges have changed, in that they seem to often care a lot more about the defendant than the law abiding citizens. Biden specifically nominates radical, left leaning DA’s and judges and floods the judicial system with them. Then, the state will declare ‘crime is down’ because many are not getting charged and they are not prosecuting crimes, not because actual crime rates are lower. Look at places like San Francisco, Chicago, Oakland, California in general, and even New York, merchandise in stores is just free now, no one has to pay! As long as you steal under $950 at each individual location, you’re safe. Then there are areas where they’ve essentially decriminalized hard drugs, many are these same places. With democrats perpetuating the narrative that we should just ‘defund the police, abolish ICE’ etc, because ‘everything is their fault’, it’s really no wonder that criminals are emboldened to commit increasingly egregious crimes. I’m sorry you had to experience that and I’m sure it’s not easy to watch hearings like this.
