I enjoyed this video. I'm currently listening to all of the sermons on Job 38-39 that i can find. IMO, these chapters are where God lifts the curtain just barly and then flexes. He is showing that he has admin privileges. I also love to ask people if they know why ostriches are stupid.

I was searching for information about God speaking to Job in the whirlwind to use in a comment on a Facebook post and came upon your video and listened and am so grateful that I did. It opened my eyes to considerations that escaped me as I was going through my own sufferings and though I am no Job, God poured His grace upon me, an undeserving sinner. At my lowest moments I always trusted God. Thank you for your videos on Job, I will definitely go back and watch them all. Blessings to you!

I’m not sure about the smile on his face. Because when I read it- it’s more like “concern face “. He didn’t know if God was going to smite him or not. I am terrified just thinking of that dressing down by God himself !

Has anyone ever considered that God is addressing Elihu in particular when he begins His speech, "Who is this who darkens counsel..." I am not saying this is the case definitively - but has anybody recognized God's speech makes sense if spoken directly to Elihu?

    • @DavidGuzikEnduringWord

      Hi Christopher,
Job 38:1 tells us the following...
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said...
It seems pretty clear that God was addressing Job.
      Blessings!

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord thank you for your reply. My goal is not to contradict the bible at all - quite the opposite. I just wonder if that speech could be directed at Elihu. It seems to work in context since Elihu was just speaking and talking about things he also did not know about (creation, etc.). It also solves the mystery of Elihu not being rebuked because this speech by God is the rebuke. I am not about tampering with Scripture but this idea seems like it resolves a lot of debate. Still, I am not saying it should be directed at Elihu, but I am wrestling with the idea nonetheless.
Just curious if anyone else ever considered this idea...

Have you read “The Remarkable Record” of Job by Henry M. Morris?
That is the point that Henry M. Morris brought up, that although God’s opening question to Job… more of a rhetorical question…( Job 38:2) was in reference to Elihu trying to pass himself off as though he actually had a direct message from God to Job, when he didn’t know what he was talking about. So although the question from God was addressed to Job, it was about Elihu.
Also as pointed out by Henry M. Morris, that God letter testified that what Job had said was “right”; that he had not “spoken words without knowledge”.

Orion was certainly not the term used by God to Job. It was certainly a later translation of an unknown term. Not a big deal, just pointing that out.

God never ask Job about the earth's suspension. Modern science has no more answers than Job. God said the earth has a foundation! He ask where are the foundations fastened. In Psalms 104 He says its on a foundation that it shall not be removed! He talks about the waters and their boundaries, the ends of the earth, the springs of the sea and the constellations moving. In all of my Bible studies, I have never found where God put the earth into orbit or that He ever causes it to move other than earthquakes. He placed the sun, moon, and stars in the sky(firmament) and they move to mark time. Genesis 1:6-10 explains creation. Our faith depends on Christ being at the "right hand of God" Col.3, Acts 7, Romans 8, Hebrews 10 & 12, 1 Peter 3, and of course Revelations. Now, if Christ is at the Right Hand of God. Where is that? Well, it is in the heaven, according to Christ in Matthew 18. Well, where is heaven? And where did Christ ascend? The simple and correct answer is UP! He ascended up into heaven(above the earth).

I think if you look into "pillars" you will find an analogy of the 7 pillars on which the earth sits. Creation is the most difficult concept and I'm sure I'm not the smartest person. The first thing brought forth is light. In Job we learn that God speaks to the animals in lightning. They cannot understand light, but the light is translated into thunder which they do understand and they respond by following directions as to which way to go. There is a passage in NT where we see some disciples hearing God's voice while others hear thunder. And Paul heard God while blinded by the light. Science is still unclear on the nature of photons. One thing that stills amazes me is how light controls the growth of a seed into a tree. All the mass of the great oak tree doesnt come from the seed or the ground. It comes from CO2 in the air, but only with the help of light. The voices of God Almight may come in a powerful flash of lightning. We wait for a booming crash of thunder, but occasionally there is a man who experiences hearing God speak in a still small voice--word breathed in his ear. The pillars on which earth sits (its foundations in wisdom?) are wisdom and understanding, counsel and might, knowledge and fear, and to breathe in the being of God (these are the spiritual prayers we breathe.) What we do know is that the tabernacle was designed to represent an image of all things. The "way of life" begins at the outer wide entrance and goes as a straight way to the Mercy seat. Here the path moves from the plane upward (it seems plain to me that this moves into another dimension) to "the face of God." This is our goal and purpose--to seek his face. The psalm about the crowning of Christ is called in Greek "the Proton psalm." Its very interesting that Jesus is the Proton and his throne is in the innermost of 3 courts like 3 shells. Additionally, we are frequently called the "elect"--electon in Greek. And get this. The electon is "drawn" to the Proton with "cords of love."
So all things are created by the Word. And the word is light. Light is supposed to be either a wave or a particle depending on whether observation is involved. Light can't be defined. And its location is guessed at with percentages of probability. Since every particle is now considered to be a field or string of energy, I guess it's possible that the substance of all things IS LIGHT. -- When Jesus said of the bread "This is my body," he may have been acknowledging that, as the Word, all things are of him. He is in everything. The Word BECAME flesh and dwelt among us. The word can become whatever God wants the Word to be...I guess. (Please excuse typos. Old eyes can't see very well.)
