I think we are not here to do politics. Russia is a country like another in this contest, and this song is lovely. Good luck to them btw. Greetings from Belgium and love to everybody in the world. Make love not war... This is a song contest
*****, I don't want to argue with you. Just want to say, that if you want to outrage Russia, come firstly to Ukraine, Luhansk and Donetsk and ask people, who lives there, who kils them? I'm sure, you will be very surprised and then you can create your own, normal opinion, not that one, that media shows us. I say that, because my unkle's family lives near that places and they can see this with their eyes. And we are not Russians, we live in Moldova, we are not interested in this. But I can't understand, my great-grandfather that served in the Soviet Army (together with Russians, Ukrainians and other people), was killed when they were liberating Hungary from the Nazis in World War II. And after all this you can say that his comrades, that also died, where criminals??? It's sad to read it... P.S. I always thought that people in Europe are so tolerant and civilized ... but now ... It's nice that many people still remain so.
The girls deserved to do much better. They're only 17 and that was supposed to be their big night. Despite that, they ended up getting booed, even though they had nothing to with the current political situation. They aren't even old enough to vote yet. Those poor girls must have been mortified. They're truly talented (even more talented than most of the countries who did better than them). I hoped that people wouldn't hold it against them, but apparently they weren't intelligent enough to see that the girls had nothing to do with the current political situation.
They were actually my favorite act, but i voted for Austria. Austria was my second favorite so i voted for them. I just can't vote for a country like Russia. It's not right...
I agree. This song shouldn't be despise because of political reasons which nothing have to do with ESC. I like the song a lot. Although I've been listening this kind of songs forever, I believe that a love and peace message will never be outdated. Good luck from Mexico.
Give this another listen and think politically. Imagine this as Russia looking back at the Soviet Union and having fantazies of making Ukraine it's own and returning to it's former greatness.
The girls don't deserve booing but the song itself does because of how the writer (who is from putin's private quarter) meant it to be. He meant it as a song to represent russia as a peaceful and loving country.
Buhaha. Putin goes lovely twins...After Baboushkas in 2012 and kinda scientology hym. in 2013...Praying love but still go marching...Standing up, with the back to the stage - this kind of reaction will do. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
One of my teachers, Mr. Ardi, hails from Russia. He is a big fan of Tolmachevy Sisters and has a dream to have a duet with them. BTW, how come you know that "Shine" has political references?
I love the song, and I love the Tolmachevy Sisters, but I think the song is politically motivated. I mean just listen to it a few times and u will get it
It was written by a person from putin's private cabinet and basically written to be propaganda to make russia seem like a loving and perfect land. The writer said: -"The song is supposed to represent the true and loving russia"
noporian When they say "Living on the edge, Closer to the CRIME". Crime definitely refers to Crimea and to the invasion of Crimea. "Sending out a message up above, telling all the world to show some love." most likely refers to the invasion of Ukraine, and telling the world to back off

Do you understand English? I guess, even Putin was suprised how stupid politicians and the ESC-People were.

This song was underrated. I really like it and I remember it every year. It's a shame that people vote for political issues and not for melody issues.
I wonder how this post has aged. I still agree tho.

Good song
Gran canción, Ya apoyaba a Conchita, pero admito que esta es una excelente canción también.
Why does the beginning of this remind me of the ending of Epica's Design Your Universe - Kingdom of Heaven Part VI a bit?
love this song 12 points from united kingdom :)
*is there a russian version to this song?*
Yes there is one, it´s called "Озари" (Ozari)
And it sounds ten times better :P
(Im 2 years too late) the russian version is called половина
Why is there the background of the Swedish entery at the end? 3:10
hm, mistake by me when rendering the video.
or else, you wanted us to unconsciously support the Swedish entery? ;)
Donney Lepland Of course that's why ;)

No idea how Sweden’s entry got here though
I just realized how political this song is.
Just look at it as a song from russia to ukraine.
I still love the song though
I don't like the song! And no, I am not putting politics in the mix. It's dull and lame.
You are dull and lame
yep
Im the only person who think this song is about Russia and Ukraine problem?
The song is so vague it could allude to a thousand different things.
It was written by a person from putin's private cabinet and basically written to be propaganda to make russia seem like a loving and perfect land.
The writer said: -"The song is supposed to represent the true and loving russia"
I do think it is lol! I have listened to the song many times and it seems like it is politically coded
Vlad Klitchkov
it was written by putins friend so yeah

such a shame... facepalm
если отправлять на конкурсы таких стремных певичек с такими стремными песнями, офк бородатые бабы побеждать будут >__
Russia singing in English, how ironic.
th-cam.com/video/dONxRIqBBZA/w-d-xo.html
there is at least a verse that doesn't fit with them .....
I can't stand their voices.
