Unless a Liberian who did not participate in the Liberian crisis rules our country , there can be no action against perpetrators base on the TRC recommendations.
But the saddest part is; we keep voting into power the very people who perpetrated these heinous crimes against this country and its people. Most of them aren’t even remorseful about what they did. Until as a people we can come to the realization that we deserve much better for ourselves and our posterity; we will keep putting the wrong people in places of power and influence.
@@capoislamort100 Fair point. I didn’t say anything about justice but since you brought that up; let me ask you this question. Given the kind of anger people speak with, from politicians to to government officials, religious leaders to ordinary people in the streets; are you convinced that reconciliation was achieved? Political parties can’t even hold in a coalition, government officials working in the same government can’t even see eye to eye. Every time some have the opportunity to be on the media; they criticize one another and shift blame. From my experience in working with communities and different groups; we’re just sugar coating the hurts and the wounds. Some wounds, the longer it takes; the scars get uglier instead of healing.
@@rawthentictruth I couldn’t have said it better myself; some wounds do get uglier with the passage of time, instead of healing. Given its history, Liberia 🇱🇷 is probably the most bizarre country in all of Afrika. However, I do feel like that there’s hope for the future, because it’s a country rich in resources and minerals.
The TRC became a dismal failure the second Charles Gyudy Branyt decided to act like the head of state instead of carrying out the two years mandate given him by the Accra Peace agreement. Which was, appoint the commissioners to investigate the attrocites for the past 50 years and organize the 2003 elections. Unfortunately, Branyt started traveling the world and looking for money to run a government. Of course, Ellen came in 2003 and did everything within her power to undermine the process which Branyt failed to start. She handpicked her sympathizers and when those same people banned her from holding public office 50 years, she ran to her handpicked Chief Justice Johnny Lewis to over turn the TRC commissioners decisions. Hence, we have one government composed of former killers and financial criminals running our government from elections to elections. People that should have been banned from holding any government positions.

@@rawthentictruth That’s very deep. How do you convince a people to want more for themselves and to feel like they are empowered to change things?
Great man❤
😅😅😅he simply took office. I can faintly recall when he took over; we were all panicked.
So what was the use of a TRC when not much has been done about the proposals that came out of the entire process?😭😭😭
The premise of the trial was for reconciliation of the nation, not justice. Because, the way they saw it, both sides have committed atrocities!
