As a homegrown Irishman I'd gladly accept Chris Thile as an honorary Irishman. I used to tend a pub and we'd have a casual trad sesh each Wednesday. Sometimes one person would show up, sometimes twelve, and there was no cash involved, but after 3 tunes every player earned a pint on the house. One aul fella who's not with us anymore used to sit down next to them with a Bodhran and pretend to play just to get the free pints. Beautiful times

I think Thile might try a bit too hard to sound suave and cool. Part of Garrison's charm was that he sounded a little rough around the edges. On the flipside, I was never a huge fan of the "Lives of the Cowboys" segments and I love love LOVE the new musical highlights in APHC.
As much as I love the music that gets played on Live From Here, it's not the same. The music is fantastic, though! I just really miss Powdered Milk Biscuits, Ketchup, Tales from Lake Woebegone, Guy Noir and Dusty and Lefty. But at the end of the day, nothing last forever. That said, what Garrison Keillor did should never be rewarded.
I love this guy Chris Thile, the way he describes Irish music and Ireland, i too have an affinity for Ireland romance and culture and the people, they're strength is poetry and religion, they have an amazing hospitality and humour, great bunch of celtics!
The first Jig is "The kid of the mountain" nice played by "the bothy band"... I read in the comm' that the sont must bee from the band "planxty", have a nice search 😉
@@arthurboutron9718 the second tune (and song) is called The Frost Is All Over. At about 5 mins mark, they play a brief excerpt from Cunla, which then is also the last song/tune.
this is great and I'm not exactly complaining, but a two and a half min into..? I mean the whole thing is only 6 and a half min, c'mon.. If I share this no one will hang around long enough to hear it.. lol
Chris Thile is a great musician and I hope he figures out how to structure a show of this kind. His long verbal intro to this set of tunes was typical of how he killed the momentum (right from the beginning) in the first show. It was embarrassing. I'm sure things will improve. This is a terrific group of musicians and the producers should let them do their thing. Thinking that they should in any way imitate Garrison Keillor is a huge mistake. It's a new show - let it BE a new show. The old one had gotten tiresome a long time ago, except for the excellent music and some of Garrison's monologues.
Amy Soderstrom I love the bliss on Sarah's face when she's playing her octave mandolin...and I love her voice, especially when she's singing that Gaelic part...
This is a great example of people having different tastes and enjoying different things! I was just thinking that I appreciated that they included the framing and background. Thile has been a musician for so long, he has an interesting perspective and good stories I'm enjoying. Hopefully more helpful people can point you to the right start times on the PHC vids so you can avoid the parts you don't enjoy. Cheers!

Chris is a huge talent and a wonderful human being
I 100% agree
I was looking forward to Chris Thile. He's delivered. I'm excited for the new incarnation.
I consider him a real letdown from Garrison. too bad; a fine musician. Just out of his element as an MC.

I loved "Lives of the Cowboys." I was sad they did not have a final episode where Lefty settles down with Miss Eveline.

What a Blessed generation of talents to carry on this precious legacy....
Sarah Jarosz!
40 years I was following Garrison and the PHC... and, Chris Thile..I'm not stopping now. You're doing just great!
Marvelous combination of musicians and singers to play this Irish tune!
😇
Beauty and thank you for sharing others talents
Anyone who has been to Ireland, and experienced the music there, gets exactly what he is talking about. The music on this video is spot on. Love it!
Wonderful. Infectious. Great intro from Chris.
I love Sarah
When Brittany Haas smiles, she intimidates the sun.
I hope Brittany and Sarah are regulars. My favorite female performers - both brilliant. And anytime they want to visit me, I'll make time :)
They are now part of the house band... so is Aoife O'Donovan.. :)
I'll tell ye one thing, it doesn't get any better here in Ireland.
Beautifully played and it sounds joyful !! thanks from cambridge uk

...and having just got to the end of the video, I see the names of the tunes are actually listed in the final title card - doh!
Chris gives a nice intro into session magic, then proceeds to change tunes after the second A part of Kid on the Mountain. Ayyyeee....
Its Joel from church
NO ONE has the fiddling touch like Brittany!
@Magnus RandallQuit posting your ads on TH-cam!
Ik ben benieuwd of meneer groen dit leest
I fucking love Planxty!
👏☘️🤙
sigh
Go to 2:11 to skip all the talking. I actually like knowing the context of songs, but when I want to hear music, I just want to hear music!
Lots of talent on that stage. Unfortunately this kind of music doesn't come across well on laptop speakers and low volumes.
This is so sick

Blah blah blah blah ego blah blah.... MUSIC at last!
2:20 nips and tunes
Chris Thile is great to listen to but painful to watch.
Garrison Keillor lost me 1.5 minutes in. I want to hear music not storytelling spiel.
