As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement th-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
I am genuinely impressed at how awesome that concrete base turned out. The base alone could be used as a decorative piece.
Reclaiming an already reclaimed beam, reclaimception! This one is great, man! Definitely a favorite from a design standpoint.
Dammit, why didn't I think of that?! 🤣 And thanks! Just trying to keep pace with you and Chris.... This one is definitely a design I'm proud of :)
Absolutely love this build! The concrete in particular 🤯. Just absolutely brilliant and I love the effect after using the ink.
This guy gets more done in a week than I do in 6 months
The thing is, it‘s easier to get more work done when you work on something you love instead of something you have to do just to get money. Not saying this guy is not hard working, he obviously is
And yes, absolutely is easier to stay motivated when you are doing something you are passionate about it 👍👍
Another great build Mike, I was so gutted when the form broke but with hindsight the black looks MUCH better than the orangey colour, such a smooth finish too,
Awesome job as always 👍 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Thanks brother! That is the exact same thing I told myself to keep myself calm when it broke.... Might have been a blessing in disguise...
@@modustrial
I felt the pain from 3500 miles away! 😊
Like you said, hopefully a blessing in disguise, I don't do social media but I would of voted black too.
@@modustrial couldn't tell from the video but I have a feeling that clean up was sometime in the late evening/early morning, when you were planning to be done for the day. Way to get it done and not go postal!
Yea, it was a late night (before the day job the next day)....just kept telling myself it would be so much better to come back and be able to start a new the next day....
That is a “Museum Quality” piece, Brother. You are an inspiration.
That’s just soooo beautiful! I’m going to start design and make my own furnitures with concrete inspired by your videos!
This might be my favorite project you've done so far!! Great end result.
I will never in a million years attempt a project such as this, but man-o-man, is it fun to watch someone else do it. Thanks for the entertainment.
5:50 is the best part for me in the video, I had no idea they made tiny magnetic protractors like that! I have to get me one and safe myself the headache of checking the indicator on my saws all the time! THANKS!
That looks freakin awesome. Design looks so cool. Plus you went beast mode on removing the foam lol.
Another great video. The way you deal with adversity and keep a level head is the most important thing you showcase. Patience and using what you have is great.
Thanks Matt! I'm slowly getting better at it. Filming myself and seeing what I look like when I hurl a clamp against the wall, makes me much less likely to do it again 🤣
Love it, it looks great! I like how the clean lines of the concrete meet the softer, rustic lines of the reclaimed beam.
Awsome project! It could be in an art gallery!
Did I just find my favourite channel ever? Amazing!
Nice result and a very interesting video, I've not seen anything like that done before and was surprised that the actual process (forgetting the complexity of the piece) is quite straightforward.
I love your projects with concrete!
THe white epoxy looks like Elmers glue. Black or a deep blue would have looked cool. LOVE the base!
Love the design you went with for the base! Also, glad you went back and did the black. Looks sharp!
Wow what a project. I really enjoyed all of the planning and calculating that went into it.
We really enjoyed watching this project! The end result is so lovely and a really good way of reusing wood!!! We love using anything reclaimed 😊
It broke my heart when you had to redo the form. In the end, it looks like it was worth it! Beautiful!
Thank you! And yea, I think it might have been a blessing in disguise that the form broke 😀
Brilliant - is really like to have a go at this! Thanks for sharing, including the one that didn’t quite work out!
I really appreciate how you show your mistakes! I just found your channel but love it. Thanks!!
I love that you include the mistakes so we can learn what not to do as well. you the man!
Awesome bench! Dude, you're a BEAST!!!
👍🏻👍🏻 it looks masculine, obviously strong & I'm sure this beam bench will be durable for many more years ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If you want to assemble multiple pieces on-top of each other perfectly you can put holes in each one and use rods going through them to assemble.
Awesome build!
That came out so great!! The black looks amazing!!
Wow, beautiful bench! What a great design! Q: how heavy is the concrete base? Can you lift it yourself at all or does it take two people?
Just came across your channel. Absolutely LOVE this build. I'm a big fan of mixed media. Already my brain is working on ideas for my backyard. :)
Just so good. What a great project and I loved the lessons learnt you shared during the build. Well produced video too. Thanks
The bench is so cool! Love it and want one!
Hi! Civil engineer here. To make the concrete stronger and to avoid possible cracks, after getting it out of form, keep it wet at least few days or just submerged it in the water for a week or so. Its not as brittle and also stronger.
Also, please consider using concrete vibrators to get the bubbles out of the concrete, its widely used nowadays and pretty cheap - used to ensure rebarb to be completly surrounded by concrete and free of bubbles, also to make smooth beton brut. Works like a mirracle :-)
BTW amazing job, love your style!
Thanks much! All those suggestions are good for "normal" concrete.... However, this stuff is different... The PVA fibers are designed to prevent cracks, and combined with the plasticizer (which reduces the amount of water needed) and polymer (which flexibly bonds cement molecules), you don't really need to worry about the longer cure with wetting. And its bubble reducing admix, combined with how fluid the mix is, drive bubbles out. Other than scraping the sides, there is really no vibrating necessary.
The failures are sometimes the best part of your videos! All too often we only see the right way to do things based on doing exactly what the other builder has planned. When we're on our own we get different variables and thus we don't know what to expect once something goes wrong. The blind spots teach as much as the known factors.
I appreciate you leaving in the failure, so many channels edit those and it is such a crucial part of any project. Something will go wrong and you're going to have to work around it.
mold breaking was a blessing in disguise that black concrete looks so much better
awesome job, I feel inspired to do something similar in my shop. Thanks
Way cool young gun! And your right, Duluth makes great stuff.
Thanks Craig! Especially for the "young" part ...just turned 41 last week :)
OMG THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!
As always a amazing job with the build.
@@modustrial my heart sank when the mold failed but i liked the black more keep up the good work.
Mike, as I mentioned on IG.. i love this project.. i think any maker has been there when a project goes from "looking great" to "utter failure" lol... glad you took it in stride and pressed on.. this project is awesome.. definitely got my creative side going on what I could use concrete for in future projects. :)
Thanks Griffin! Let me know when you want to jump into some concrete and I'll lend a hand.
Dude, I love DIY and I'm not sure how it took this long for me to find your channel, but I'm a new subscriber. WAY COOL design and work on the bench.
I legit. thought, from the thumbnail, that the bench was gonna be a lot bigger… That being said, AWESOME vid! 😍❤️
Gorgeous! ❤️
Super great video dude! Thanks very much!
Argh jeez sorry to have seen the form breaking... that must have been heartbreaking. Well done for keeping on it tho! - hi from the UK!
I love your channel. So inspiring and full of ideas. Thanks.
In case anybody is wondering- one of the songs is Wellmess feat. Divty - Just Drive
Very cool Mike! Way to continue trying new things, accepting failure, and rebounding from it. Hope this spring we can get you to my new forge and work on something together!
I should be up and running (partially) by Jan 1st. Back full operation hopefully by March/April time frame.
This looks super awesome! Judging by the veins popping in your neck this looks really really heavy! :) I love the rustic industrial look.
Thanks! And yea, projects like this are the reason I can take time off from "working out"... I do the concrete workout instead 🤣
Looks great I love it it’s different! I also prefer the black color over the peanut butter
Yea, the orange/yellow pigment just didn't come out like it appeared in my head.
Really cool man! How about making a matching stool with the 2' extra piece?
Awesome project. Love the design. Nicely produced video. Mahalo for sharing! : )
LOOKS fantastic, I think this would look great maybe in an entrance way, and would be great to sit and put your shoes on.
Such a great how to video. I was thinking about doing some foam Mold making basically with these exact same steps. Kind of like how they do fibreglass Mold making for boats. Glad that I can see it works before I tried it aimlessly haha
Thanks much! I'm pretty excited about this technique....you can carve the foam with a cutzall disc too and get some pretty organic shapes ....lots of possibilities!
Love this video! And Duluth, my man! I have Duluth t-shirts that are at least 10 years old. And they still look great! Best shirts money can buy! 😃📽⚒👍
Wow your an inspiration my friend
Beautiful Creatures
Great job, preferred the black, so it worked out well! Thanks for keeping the mistake in the video!
te quedo muy chulo
The black looks so much better. On top of that I was worried about the black stain for a second but it looks really good and modern haha. One of my favorite bench builds of yours yet.
Great build Mike. The failure of the first mold was a blessing in disguise, looks way better in black!
Thanks! And I totally agree!
