I am currently swapping '16 STI transmission into my '13 WRX. I was planning to use the STI axles up front, but they didn't come with C-clips, are those needed?
Yes they do! The rear diff requires the use of the STI axles due to the inner splines being larger, however the hub side is the same and the STI axles slide right in!
@@quinnharrison1021 the difference here is the hubs require matching axles, regardless of transmission. So if you have STI hubs you need STI axles, wrx hubs - wrx axles. Just make sure the axles are for the correct body style, mixing axles with widebody and narrow body cars will cause issues.
Check out the website flatironstuning and search for their 6 speed swap guide. The only issue with an 09 is the axles from an sti will be too long so you may need either a special driveshaft or special rear axles
@@nickquatrini should I use my stock rear wrx axles I have a 2019 sti 6 speed trans with the sti diff and axles but I don’t have the sti spindles if they fit I’ll use the stocks about to do it in my drive way

Just replaced the 5 speed on my 09 wrx pretty easy honestly, it only took me 2 days with basically no help. Would love to find a six speed.
Amazing, what did you do with the rear hubs to keep 5x100? Do the sti rear axles mate up with the 5x100 hubs?

08-14 wrx front hubs can utilize STI axles. 11-14 wrx rear hubs can accept the STI axles. 08-10 rear need a hybrid ( to be 100% proper)
What are those rpf1 wheels size and offset ?

@abbas674 yes in fact you need to. The sti axles require sti knuckles, wheel bearings etc
