Good ol’ straight ahead jazz, folks with the tenor and alto both breathily sparring but never interfering. Old shuffle style swingin’ jazz that doesn’t age, at least for me. These two giants of the post WW2 jazz-scene just kept swinging and giving joy to many people (for the youngsters; we used to dance to this charming stuff). Enjoy, G’day & Cheers!

Escuché a Johnny Hodge (en persona) por primera vez en 1968, en el único concierto que dió Duke Ellington (de cuya orquesta formaba parte); en el viejo cine Mayo de la calle 25 de Mayo, Córdoba, Argentina. Me paralizó. Ese sonido, esa expresión...el fraseo y el sonido nasal de saxo alto crearon una atmósfera inolvidable.
