  • Here is a video of my Hobart welder/ generator. It's got a Wisconsin THD enigne (crank start only). I have had this welder for about two years now. I have worked on it a bit at a time. I recently got it all back together and running.
It's max output is 230A however at 100% duty cycle it is only rated at 200A.
    Now for the Airco...........

I have the Lincoln version of this welder with the same engine. Mine is a 1955 I bought from the original owner. One snap with the choke on then a second snap with the choke off and it pops to life. I stopped using it to weld about 25 years ago and use it for a back up generator. (I’m a professional welder and use modern equipment for work) It has never failed me when the power fails. 😉

This welder was copied to be just like the Lincoln. That's a Lincoln welder build by Hobart.

@@tnhuckleberry01Thank you, I also have the 1963 Lincoln with the 2 cylinder Wisconsin. It’s a 200 amp, but in AC current output only. Runs, welds, but I do not use it, afraid of the original selenium rectifier still onboard. They deteriorate over time. No drawings to figure out a possible diode value / arrangement to upgrade

I have one of these really old Hobart/Wisconsin 2-cylinder welders with a distributor ignition. Was given to me many years ago. It welds beautifully but I cannot get any output from the AC generator. There doesn't seem to be any fuse or circuit breaker so I'm thinking there may be an open in the windings. Any suggestions? I would love to get it fully restored. The unit is otherwise in very good condition.

Picked up one of these style welders January this year. Have it running, but no out put. Would love to have it going eventually. I have gotten the manual for it from Hobart directly, just getting time to go over it now.

I had a airco 3 phase for 5 years bought it back in the late 80s while I was in the NAVY I would have kept it but where I moved to had no 3 phase power so I got smart and sold it be before I moved . Now I have a licnckon tombstone welder it only goes to 75 amps 100% but will go to 225 intermittent use I miss the old welder as it put out AC and DC and the one I have now only does AC I wish I could find one like yours at a good price I need to weld some that need 200 amps solid for 30 min

You wouldn't happen to have a service, parts or owners manual for one, maybe email me. I would pay for your time. Mines a G-213 Hobart but I not sure if brushes for a 200 Lincoln might work. I need the ones for the AC side also. Had a wire that came loose and it stuck the brush on the DC side. They are all very brittle and all that carbon has to be cleaned off.the stratater. I think that's what it's called.

  • @SmallEngineMechanic

I believe the crank handle adapter is threaded to the crankshaft, unscrew that and look at the flywheel. I think it is keyed to the crank. Is there any way to get a puller on it?
Also I would pull the cylinder head to see what the top end looks like. Its proably not too bad id its just stuck from sitting.

Im actually on the trail of another one now. Real Wisconsins haven't been made for 30 years or so. There are a few good dealers throughout the country you can get most parts from, and of course evilbay. However you will pay. I have not seen many aftermarket parts from different suppliers like for rings and other wear parts, but they are out there. Most parts are NOS. MY OPINION if you find one get it, they are cool engines!

I'm going to be working on a pair of twin Wisconsin engines one is tfd the other is thd both have been sitting over 25 years.
Is there an easy way to prime the oil pump before first test runs?
I am trying to avoid having to removing the sumps on either engine till I hear them run because parts and gaskets are a bit pricey.

I've bought a Hobart 213; it's been sitting in a garage for about 7 or 8 years without being run, and the engine (Wisconsin air-cooled) is stuck. How can I take it apart safely? I've already tried it a couple of times, but I'm having some problems with the flywheel. How can I remove it?

  • @SmallEngineMechanic
    @SmallEngineMechanic  12 ปีที่แล้ว

I would say it could be worth $400-800. At least thats probably in the range I would pay for it. Somebody looking for a classic machine might give you more, ya never know. Sounds like a nice set up! Where are you located?

You never want to wear loose shirts or have long beard/hair when starting one of these because if you get caught it will eat you for up. This one is kind of small but on the big ones you got to be carefull

Hi there! I pretty much have the same exact welder (not running at the moment) and I wanted to ask you a few questions to see if you could maybe point me in the right direction for information on these welders. I don't understand the heat range "handwheel" these machines use. I am primarily an old school Lincoln man. Do you understand how the heat range adjustment is supposed to work on these machines? Please reply at theduke at gmail dot com if need be. Thanks!
