Do you have a a list of everything done? I’d like to do the same for my 996

Dude, what a let down. How about a test drive following the work to go over your experience with the changes? whats different? was it worth it? concerns / would you do it differently if doing it again? Major missed oppertunity and viewers are left waiting for a thrilling and informational conclusion that never comes.

I guess you get what you pay for .. the Chinese parts will last 2 years, while the original ones lasted 20 years ..

Pretty much the same experience I'm going trough at the moment with my 986. Of my rear camber adjustment bolts, the O/S came out OK while on the N/S one snapped but came out, while the one through the Coffin arm was seized and I had to cut it out.
Surprised you didn't fit new dampers though while it was all apart, they are most likely the same age as the rest of the suspension and even though they appear OK, I bet if you compared them they would all exhibit different damping, mine certainly did.
When you do change the dampers it is worth mentioning the strut pinch bolt, which is also part of the ARB drop link, will most likely be seized in the hub. One of mine took me 4hrs of heat and a cracking bar to get it out.
I've done mine single handed with the car on Axle stands on my drive, so it is possible at home.

Hi, a great video to show what’s involved to resolve a very common problem on many Porsche cars, especially Cayman/Boxsters. I would love to see how you go about a similar repair on the 981 Cayman. Mine needs this as the bolts are starting to disintegrate with corrosion & heat. Because the 981 has just 2 bolts on each flange it can quickly be compromised.

This is why I leave this stuff to the experts. If everything just unbolted and could be guaranteed not to strip/break I’d be much more inclined to have a go. I’m happy with brakes and things like that as they tend to be off regularly enough to not be too seized. Also I’m well aware that I know just enough about most things to be dangerous….

£2 worth of anti seize on everything to be reassembled will save the next owner all this horrible work in the future and £££

Doing all that work, why not replace the shock absorbers and springs?

    • @LaRosePorscheKent
      @LaRosePorscheKent  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Spyder Performance sponsored all their own branded parts & don't have their own line of shock absorbers

@@LaRosePorscheKent I see, but it should be a recommendation to change since a lot of work has gone into removing the old springs and shocks?

It says cheap...... doesn't look like it, but they were probably donated for the video , thus cheap!! 😎

I would have asked them to spray the inside top of the wing where the top mount goes with Wax oil/Lanogaurd as it has some surface rust starting. You can still do it afterwards but better before the top mount goes in , cost very little but will protect for a long time. All the new bolts should have anti seize on them but no sign of then being done...a bit strange when you've just watched them battle away cutting the original ones out with angle grinders and hammers.

I bought a car from these people. The day I collected the handbrake pad retaining springs broke. They couldn't fix it so I drove away in a car with no handbrake. They sent me the parts and I paid a local guy to fit them. He told me the brakes were in a terrible state but in fairness LaRose sent me new pads and discs all round. I did the rears but there was a delay fitting the fronts. When I finally came to fit the fronts I realised they were the wrong ones. I told them but they refuse to change them. So if you want a Porsche with dodgy brakes and like abysmal customer service these guys are the place to go

I've been watching a few vid's and this is a good one. This video was educational for me. It familiarized me as to the components and design of the Boxter, as I have one and will be refreshing the suspension.

A very professional approach to this job indeed. From what I see all Porsche models are dealt with including the classic air cooled stuff.

I just got an estimate of $5,700.00 for my 2006 Cayman S. And this does not include an alignment. Thoughts?

Nice video but what is cheap?! Can’t see the cost on your site or Spyder performance … have the same 2003 S and I am interested in bringing it to you for a check over

All Spyder Performance parts are the best priced on the market against anything of the same quality. Get in touch & we can get you in & show you around your suspension with the car in the air

Personally I would have dropped the shocks, springs and topmounts. Then worked on the bench to remove seized topmounts. But I guess whatever works for you.
I'm always a little worried, fire, cutter and fuel tank !!!
