A BIT OF A LONGER VIDEO THIS TIME.
METEOR SHOWER DRACONIDS WAS PREDICTED, SO OFF IWENT UP TO HEDGEHOPE IN THE CHEVIOT HILLS. THE SECOND HIGHEST SUMMIT.
WIND AND CLOUD RUINED IT ALL IT WAS FORECAST 50-60MPH FOR THE MORNING, I TOOK A READING OF 37MPH CONSTANT AT NIGHT, SO IT WAS DEFINITELY BLACK LABEL SOULO TERRITORY, TENT PERFORMED AMAZINGLY, OUTSIDE WAS WILD INSIDE WAS CALM AS ANYTHING.. A GOOD INVESTMENT
ANYWAY I HAD A NICE NIGHT JUST CHILLING OUT WITH MY TUNES AND BEERS.. BACK OUT SOON..

Thanks. Yea the tent was out again in worse conditions this weekend and performed outrageously well. 😂 it’ll be a week or so before I publish that though. Hopefully get another camp in before that. Thanks for watching atb. 👍

Hi Andy great camp, I should have quickly packed the mirage and come up as well, but I was packed and ended up at Harwood as Simonside was heaving, with the sun being out on Saturday,where was the sun there lol and not far away at about 25 miles ?

Its the Cheviots its always windy lol. I seen that meteor in Scotland flying over saltcoats, it was like something oot the movies... great stuff.

Hi mate, another good vid and camp, I hike in the Cheviots often and try my hand at making vids but a long way to go yet 😂. Drove past you the other week when you were leaving Alwinton valley due to the rain which I seen in your last vid. Also just missed you on this camp as I came from the Cheviot and up comb fell and onto Hedgehope, but went back to Ingram Valley as I was on a 22 mile hike with one of my Huskies. One day I might bump into you and say hi and have a 🍺.. Sound like a mad stalker now 😂. Keep up the good work m8, atb Andy

Hedgehope is a killer from that side feels vertical in places, I prefer the linhope side bit more forgiving. Those glide beers are nice strong too. Tent wasn’t even moving would survive a nuclear blast like.
It’s not long which is why I do it. The other approach is longer. I’m kidding myself 😂 it looked steeper coming down sometimes I wonder how the hell I got up.
Yeah I’m getting what I paid for with the tent. The gusts were easily 50-60mph through the night like. Constant 35mph. Beastly. Thanks for watching mate. Atb 👍

Nice one Andy! Hedgehope is a cracking hill but it doesn’t half cop some wind. The tent looked superb though. Do you find the BL inner moves a lot less than your old red label Soulo did? I take it that you are very happy to have made the upgrade. Cheers bud and ATB, Andy.
Yeah I think it moves a little bit less than the RL but the outside is the real difference. It was either the shelter or the tent but I hardly noticed that wind. I made the upgrade at the right time. The BL was only £850 when I bought it. That was one reason. £50 difference for that. Yeah. I did the right thing. Cheers for watching atb. 👍
Thanks for that Andy. The BL at only £50 more for only a 400 gram weight increase seems to be a well worth upgrade on the RL if buying from scratch.👌

Cheers. No I only guy the door if the winds whipping or forecast to change direction. It was only blowing the one way so I left it. It doesn’t really need it like that. But if it changes it’s good to guy it.

Looks like one hell of a tent. In my younger days I used an Akto, but would be looking at a Soulo if I was doing serious camps these days.
Yeah the akto is tried and tested. A lot of people aren’t keen on soulos 🤷♂️ but I wouldn’t use anything else in those conditions. What I didn’t show was the gusts. The constant wind was 35mph. The gusts felt double that. But it never budged. I was surprised by how windy it was outside as it never felt it inside. Worth every penny imo. Atb. 👍

No idea. I just make it up as I go 😂 it’s all weather dependent. When I said break I meant a break from camping 😂. It gets exhausting. Atb 👍
Hedgehope is now on my list of hills to get up, maybe in the early Summer as that looked brutal especially with the wet ground conditions. Really enjoyed this one Andy, tent looked brilliant, just too expensive for the likes of me. ATB Big Dave Scotland
Aye it’s a beast. Straight up after the bog. It tests the legs. Early summer is ok. Summer is bad for flies. Give it a shot. It’s a big flat area on top. I’m glad I got the tent when I did. I done a good deal. Couldn’t afford one now. Worth it though. 👍

Cheers for watching them. Where you based? There’s many many great options but start it simply. I’m case you don’t like it or you have to bail out. No shame in bailing remember. And make sure you check the weather. Don’t use BBC weather app. Use MWIS. 👍

Ok Andy...... Thanks for your advice during the week. I got blown off Langlee Crags on Thursday night, gusting 60mph, then blown off Great Hetha on Friday night, gusting 45mph, first time I'd used my Delta pegs. Two of the best nights and fun I've had since my Fatha put us on a greased pig at Alwinton show in '83. Was gonna do The Schill on Friday but didnae have the puff after Thursday's sleepless night. Having a camp when the weather is tickety-boo is all well & fine, but the real fun is being on the edge of disaster, as long as you've the right kit, mindset, etc and not gonna endanger yourself & others. You go up there to experience a storm in a black label tent yet put your tent behind shelter. Really?
Hilleberg film ttheir tents being set up in 60mph winds (4 times the power), never mind 30mph, they even film the nammatj a tunnel being hit from the side at 75mph, the tent having no issues. There is a video on youtube of an akto and soulo standing upto 85mph measured winds.
No. I go out to enjoy a nice camp. But also being prepared for the worst. So if I can get a bit of shelter from the 55-60mph winds. Which it was here. I’ll take it. I’m well aware of the capabilities of these tents. But I like to relax a bit. Not fight for survival 😂

@@DemiGod.. it is. I like to mix my shelters though. I can’t imagine using just one tent for ever more 😂. I’ve a new style lanshan type tent coming. If it’s crazy though I’ll always be in the BL.
