Attack and release is a game changer. I always used Kirchoff EQ because it had it. Glad Fabfilter have listened to customer feedback. But the multiwindow is probably the most exciting feature. I've been begging for someone to make this!
With this update Fabfilter still supports OS X macOS 10.13 ! I was 100% sure the next update wouldn't be possible on my 11 year old iMac, but nope, Fabfilter has done it again !!! Love these guys !!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
It's pretty cool that the Pro-Q4 is bringing spectral dynamics, which could earlier only be done with the likes of ReaFIR (in Reaper) and MeldaProduction SpectralDynamics, to the people.
@@PluginBoutiqueOfficial No functionallity is never "needed" (we can mix without), it is just good to have. But it can do marvelous thing on drums. Really good to play with Split EQ or Tonebooster EQ Pro to boost toms or snare right from drum bus. It is implemenetd just like M/S mode in fab filter (a single switch on the point to determine its transient/sustain type). But yes, Fab Filter Pro Q 4 has already a looot to offer and I celebrate with you 😉
@@PluginBoutiqueOfficial Note that 3 years ago, you claimed that "SplitEQ changed mixing forever", precisely because of transient VS sustain equalization. At least it is pluginboutique video title about it 😉
Good man. Cheers Joshua. Thought I was done after BF, but when I seen this drop, upgrading is unavoidable. The instances view is such a great addition to an already amazing EQ
I would love to access the Big Gain knob ( with its features ) in the multi-window, so I don't have to close and re-open the instances of different instruments. Right now it's not possible to do it ALL from one instance, it does suck from this perspective. The multi-window instance feature looks basic.
With this update, Fabfilter could really have eliminated the only competition still on the market, namely Sonible. With the Instance View in Pro-Q4, they didn't include a function to unmask all the tracks with just a few clicks. That would really have been a good idea if there was already such a good overview in the plugin. Too bad, then SmartEQ will probably remain my GoTo.
I always resisted FF because i felt like i got everything i wanted done with TDR NovaGE...but....ah....seems like like i have no excuses left....the Instance feature alone makes this worth whatever the asking price is.
@@davidmcpoland5286 it'll be on 'my account' tab via their website, then scroll down; to see your upgrade options. Ha, with EDU I paid £25 for the upgrade from Q3,, bargain. :D
How CPU heavy is the new version compared to version 3? EDIT: just tried it with two Reaper projects simultaneously open having one in each on the master chain with dynamic EQ engaged and they overclock. I love the sound and it’s a fantastic upgrade but will stay with V3.
Upgrading from Pro-Q version 3 to the new Pro-Q 4 is safe and easy: installing Pro-Q 4 will not replace or delete the previous Pro-Q 3, 2 or version 1 plug-ins. All versions will co-exist and can be used at the same time. This ensures that you can open old sessions that use Pro-Q 3 without problems! Of course, FabFilter Pro-Q 4 can also read all presets from previous versions as well.
@@PluginBoutiqueOfficial Thanks. I'm thinking in terms of keeping a streamlined plugin footprint. If I uninstall ProQ3...will ProQ4 step in and follow all the old settings in old projects that once had ProQ3?
They've killed soothe and all other dynamic eq's on the market, i couldn't even think of another feature they could add on a version 5 😂 maybe some vintage emulations but there's millions of them
We deserve a giveaway. One last chance to finally win something. And this isn't something, this is everything. Plugin boutique, you know we all love you. Pretty please?
Thanks for this informative video, it was useful. But why do you have to edit background music that is totally unrelated to the content? Honestly that is very distracting. I do appreciate the features showcase though.
Just picked Pro Q 3 during black friday sales and the upgrade is free! 🎉

Aside from audio stuff I love the UI and dynamics of this software. FF devs are something else.
I had 9 instances on one project. I was maxing at 50% with them all on, and 47% with them all off..... so, pretty outstanding performance. - JC

Wow, well done!!!
Only missing: Transient/Sustain EQ as seen in Split EQ and Toneboosters EQ Pro. These are really well nice.
I am not sure that functionality is needed here. - JC

the instance view is insane
yea, super smooth - JC
Some truly groundbreaking workflow features.

What should we take a close look at?
If the new spectral mode can replace the need for something like Soothe

Is this better than soothe 2 & Waves Curves Equator for ducking, making space etc?
Pretty cool, but is that new resonance feature up to par with soothe2?
That's what I need to know. I would upgrade instead of buying soothe2
Nice! Thanks for the review! Does it also show the graph of mid and side to compare?
After black friday?...noooo.
A lot of companies put out new stuff after getting you to buy other things on sale
Of course. Why would they discount the new thing?
It’s free if you bought proq 3 in last 60 days
How is it handling oversampling with saturation, time constants and spectral?
what are the crackling noises ?

if they continue making improvements they are going to end up making the kirchhoff EQ

No transient/sustain option?

Does the Spectral mode does the same thing as Soothe ?
Better than soothe
No. Soothe and other resonance suppressors track all the audio coming in and operate over the whole signal.
