    It's the taller riders that feel this bike losses composure at higher speeds. I bet the sketchy feeling would be much less with more robust wheels and rubber.

  • @Lyds_rose988

    Hows this compare to the older 2019 orbea rallon.??

    • @Bikemagazine
      @Bikemagazine 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not that far off, overall capability-wise. It'd be hard to draw a line between the trails one can ride and the other can not. That's part of why the Rallon recently got some extra travel. Mostly, we found a difference in attitude. At least when compared to a Rallon with a Float X2 shock, the Occam feels more lightly damped and eager to get off the ground. It also isn't quite as laterally stiff as the Rallon, so reckless charging feels a little more confident on the Rallon, while the Occam is a little better at goofing off. Hope that helps!

    • @Lyds_rose988

    • @kurtmccann137

      Why do you think the Occam is better for beginners?

    • @kurtmccann137
      @kurtmccann137 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the suspension design is simpler. The dw link has a unique characteristic that I think a more advanced rider would appreciate and get a long with. Also the occam is definitely more agile so it is a bit more fun at slower speeds.

    The only thing I don't like about this bike is the seat tube length on the XL. 508mm is too long.

    • @RH-vp8gr
      @RH-vp8gr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Ulrich would be nice if it was a tad shorter but it’s pretty similar to others and a lot lower than some. Yeti range is 495 which is 13mm difference. Trek Xl is like 546 which seems ridiculous.

    • @richardulrich9001
      @richardulrich9001 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RH-vp8gr which Trek? The fuel ex is 500mm and the remedy is 520 I think. Those are too long too. Every other bike I'm looking at has shorter seat tubes. I'm not saying it's a deal breaker, though, bit it's a negative in my book.

    • @RH-vp8gr
      @RH-vp8gr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Ulrich ah the new ones must have come down but my trek xl was 546 so ended up with a large. The ibis Ripmo in xl looks great for seat length, seems to be what bikes should be now.

    Both the Occam and Stumpy are way to expensive! I did the math to buy a frame only and then build up yourself with same spec on the stumpy you’ll save over $1700. Guessing you’d save on the Occam to!

    Everything functions properly th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of TH-cam. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
