The drummer is Jeff Campitelli , he’s a world class drummer- I play drums & Jeff’s a good friend , I was just literally sitting down with him earlier today talking about drumming and stuff - No BS Jeff is one of the nicest persons I know - yeah SatrianiId is a decent guitarist too .😁
In the 1980s, Joe Satriani had a listing Guitar lessons available in Berkeley. I grabbed the ad and begged my parents to pay for them. But, they gave me a hard No because they were already paying for my piano 🎹 lessons. Thus, I never met him! 😢 Joe Satriani heard 👂 Van Halen in 1978. He was floored and also shaken! 😨 He could not figure out some measures instantly! 🤯 He did eventually. Now, he is on tour with Sammy Hagar, who was the 2nd lead singer of Van Halen.
Joe’s extensive discography full of beautiful incredible & diverse music….is second to none! One of the very “top tier” players…up there with the worlds best guitarists, including Jazz fusion artists - Shawn Lane & Guthrie Govan!
The next song from Satriani that you should do is called SATCH BOOGIE from the Surfing With The Alien album. That'll keep you awake and make your toes tap!!&! 😎🎸🎶
Joe Satriani’ Surfing With the Alien. Another guitarist who died way too young and has been lost to time is Tommy Bolin. Check out Post Toasties. Have you listened to Jeff Beck or Yngwie Malmstien?
I'm not a huge fan of guitar "virtuosos" like Steve Vai or Yngwe Malmstein, preferring more soulful artists like Dave Gilmour, but Joe is very good and Circles, Surfing With The Alien, Satch Boogie are other great tracks from this album worth exploring. Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover is also worth a reaction.
Yes, the studio version is much better, for a reason: there are punch-ins where he overlaps the solo to thicken it up and keep the timing going correctly. Doing this song live will never equal the studio version, but the fact he is able to keep it this tight live is a testament to Joe's abilities.
Joe added vocals on his third album Flying In A Blue Dream. He did the vocals himself rather than hire a singer. Steve Vai hired a then not so well known Devin Townsend to do vocals on his Sex & Religion album. Vai handled the vocals himself on his Fire Garden album. When you read the list of guitarist Satriani has taught you didn't recognize Kirk Hammett , he's the lead guitar player of Metallica ! !
This is a great song but if you want to hear him really turn it loose listen to Satch Boogie if you want vocals in a rockin song try Big Bad Moon. Kirk Hammet is the lead guitarist for Metallica
Eric Johnson "Cliffs of Dover" will blow your mind. Satriani, Vai, Johnson, & Malmsteen are a separate breed. Amazing talent

He taught a lot of guys how to play .
Saw Satriani & Vai on tour in early May. Kenny Aronoff on drums. What a show!

Seen Joe at Massey Hall in Toronto!!!👍👊😎🇨🇦
Me too...twice.
Always dug this song but I'm surprised something more up beat wasn't chosen. Like maybe Summer Song.
Studio version is much crisper
