Germany is pretty safe for women and that goes to dorms as well. Usually when you live in a private studio apartment, it difficult to make friend in dorm because everyone stays in their dorm but with time you get to know few people and then things start changing.
During application they ask you to select shared apartment or studio etc, did you only select studio? or did u select both and by chance u got the studio? What about the max cost part of the application how much did you write?

I applied after I got admit. Usually you can't apply and if the date is mention for start of application. You can't apply before that.
