However I'm just curious if 'Yam' is infact a central part of Nigerian cooking and does it also hold any kinda religious significance in traditions around the Nigerian population ?? Just asking so that I can become more aware of the culture as such.
@DoviiForum absolutely, Yam actually holds a stronger traditional significance in the Igbo ethnic group of southeastern Nigeria. They have a festival called, "the New Yam Festival" which attracts dignitaries from different parts of the world, as far as China, Australia, and Russia. It's also used to perform other traditional rights, including marriage, naming, and burial ceremonies in different parts of Nigeria.
