love the Abba reactions. Abba songs even though sometimes dark are generally always upbeat. Try 'Me and I' a joyful song with 80s synth sounds, use of a vocoder but singing about split identity or personality disorder.. From the Super Trouper album, also 'The Piper' again slightly dark as you can interpret it as the masses following a dictator type figure but again upbeat. Keep discovering as they have an amazing catalogue of hits, the well known classic ones but also some less well known and some very underrated . Cheers 🙂
And again 😂. Abba Live at Wembley... Does your mother know AND Hole in your soul! Not only a great studio band, also a raw powerful live band. Pure talent and joy
@@Musical_Vault Hi, Hello guys! I agree with the suggestion That is why I leave the link with The Two Songs Together (so that you can see them in continuity, 8 unmissable minutes): "Does your mother know" + "Hole in your Soul" th-cam.com/video/JEyYTANSPj4/w-d-xo.html keep in mind that it is the end of the concert, after 2 hours and 20 songs (later will come the special numbers) and think about it ABBA, the Swedish pop group, closes a recital and a Europe tour of pure rock power in the England of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, etc.
'The Name of the Game' and 'Knowing Me Knowing You' were extremely big songs in the 70's and are still quite well-known, but really worth listening to and rediscovering. Deep shit.
They are both really great. I see them alongside Money Money Money as big productions with a serious sounding edge, prog-pop as people sometimes call it, a kind of sophisticated pop of the period, not really all out dance music (like their more disco stuff) imo.
Knowing Me, Knowing You. The Name of the Game. The Piper. Happy New Year. Like An Angel Passing Through My Room. Should I Laugh or Cry. Cassandra. All classics. All different. Some not well known. I enjoy watching your reactions to this band as it defies your initial presumptions.
Me & I is a real gem from the Super Trouper album. It's about a woman exploring two different sides of her personality. Great lyrics, catch melody and all-round good song.
Yes, ABBA could get away with composing a song about "obsessive" love and stalking, with a Pop beat. Their later songs were know for "Dark" subjects with that "upbeat" signature sound. I was an early fan of theirs. It was great to watch (and listen) to them evolve. Thanks for the reaction.
I’ve had the joy of meeting Benny and have corresponded with Björn. I love this song. It makes me think of hymns. They recorded man tracks of them singing the chorus and created a „choir/congregation singing“- feel. I love the keyboards at the end...
@@Musical_Vault Yes. He is a musical legend. He wrote an Opera and a musical with Björn, one of his songs is in the hymn book... He is one of the big Scandinavian composers of the 20th century. Because of ABBA and beyond. I have a good relationship to management and visit whenever am in Stockholm. Benny was very calm and quiet and friendly. I shook his hand and it was just surreal...
Hey guys, try 'The Visitors' The opening lyrics: " I hear the doorbell ring and suddenly the panic takes me, the sound so ominously tearing through the silence, I cannot move I'm standing numb and frozen"..." Haha, now you have to listen to it to find out what happens. It still manages to be upbeat and catchy.
I have four suggestions for you guys and I feel completely sure that you´re gonna like all four of them. 1. Hole in your soul (Abba is rocking). 2. The Day Before You Came (Abba in synthheaven... true masterpiece). 3. Knowing Me, Knowing You (Fantastic song, arrangement and volcals... a pop masterpiece). 4: On and On and On (Abba rocking again . For me at least in an ELO way. I hope you give these gems a chance. I think they will suit you...., maybe too good! ;-)
The most unusual thing in this song is that the lead is sung by Agnetha doubled with herself without Frida, who joins her in the chorus. It gives the song an interesting and slightly different sound, a thinner sound. Read Abba : Let The Music Speak, by Christopher Patrick..it's a brilliant book. The only mistake he makes is to confuse head voice and falsetto.
try Hole In Your Soul (from ABBA The Album 1977) or Voulez Vous (from Voulez Vous 1979) - the songs about relationships come from the fact that ABBA were 2 married couples and also went through divorces during their time together as a band
I really recommend you guys to react to a song called ”Hole in Your Soul” - it’s a really great experimental Pop/Rock song with great vocals and a lot of guitars.
As you seem to be more & more interested in ABBA, you should read one day the book Bright Lights, Dark Shadows by Carl Magnus Palm. It gives an insight on the careers they had before ABBA, how they came together, the importance of their manager, the sound engineer, studio musicians,... They were all top and then you understand that the success was no coincidence.
Traditional in that it's uptempo with a dance beat? They are known for ballads as well, or some mid temp songs. The main point with this I think is that it's more electronic dance style, which isn't the main style they are known for.
This is a very well known ABBA song. I'm surprised you didn't know it! But it's more in line with their classic 'pop' sound which I thought you were trying to avoid, so that you get to hear their more acoustic/rock/alternative side. For that, you really should check out 'Knowing Me, Knowing You'', 'The Name of the Game', 'Hole in your Soul' or 'When I Kissed the Teacher'.
Yeahh, we've heard of the song but we never gave it a proper chance before, which was our mistake 😂 looking forward to reacting to some more ABBA soon, so we'll try and give them a listen 🎶
Try "Soldiers" and "Day before you came". And also "Hole in your soul", "Lovelight", "As Good as New" and "King Kong song". There is good contrast between those songs. Shows great diversity in ABBA's catalogue.
@@Musical_Vault Before you do the live version of "Hole In Your Soul," please listen to the studio version. Maybe you can compare the two. I am a huge ABBA fan, but I think they were much better studio performers than live performers. Just my opinion.
@@starry2006 Agreed. I checked out the link shared by Escorpio Omega, and this is a very good performance of "Hole in Your Soul." However, for a first introduction to any song, I feel like the listener should check out the original studio version first (if possible) and then they can appreciate any differences in a live performance.

I hope they are not using ABBA as clickbait to attract viewers and increase their subscribers. As for me this will be my first and last visit to this channel.
Who else would put the word "incomprehensible" in a lyric of a song? Only ABBA could and dared. 😂
Yes it is a quite long word 😄
Björn was inspired by Supertramp’s Logical Song lyrics.
maybe it´s because they don´t have english as their first language, people with english as their native tounge would perhaps use other words
They Dared and smashed it, as the young say these days

Agree, the Day before you came is very atmospheric. ABBA is so underrated for their talent and depth. They are not a bubblegum pop band.
