I was just down there a few weeks ago, and even with the track in it's pre-restored condition, I was able to recognize the entire lap. What an amazing video and such a wonderful job with the entire complex. It is my favorite track I've been to and I am seriously looking at relocating to the area just to be able to spend more time at VIR. I wish you continued success.
Nick, thank you for sharing this awesome piece of racing history with us! I just did a weekend HPDE in May, and can't wait to go back in November. Just an amazing track and facility.
The track has come a long ways. It is now one of the premier racetracks in America, in my opinion. And one of the most beautiful tracks also. It's right up there with Laguna Seca.
The track originally opened August 3, 1957 and was created by a group of men using a bulldozer. That's the best way to design a great track, just do whatever one's imagination can produce.
Went up there today for my first time and got bit on the "Roller Coaster", I definitely get what he means now when he says "This is what keeps you from flying down that hill" Yeah it definitely does.
Great local tidewater(ish) narration voice... good stuff. Would have left some of the old barns though. Didnt have to tear everything down though. Typical rennovation... great vid...

"Yes, we are definitely leavin' the oak tree". One of the most historic decisions of race track construction. Thank you very much.
0:50 "Yes, we are definitely leaving the Oak tree". So sad :(
Well, they left it for a while.
My favorite track in North America. Hard to imagine it this decrepit but I'm so glad it was saved!
Truly an amazing renovation into a world class facility...thank you!

Sure was a mess, but it's beautiful, now! Prettiest race track in America, and one of the most challenging.

Wow, I never knew it once looked that bad. Amazing track right now though, good job on the renovation.
Love it! I crashed at turn 1 on a track day years ago. Amazing to see what it looked like before!
Wow, the track layout is familiar, but it looks a lot different with all those trees.
