Apologies for all the wind noise and terrible editing! And all the incorrect information... Watch at your own risk of boredom and possible loss of sanity.
The Slightly Shambolic Shuffles are back! This time, we are at the 2022 British Leyland (or BL) Autumn Rally, and it gets very shambolic very quickly. In this first part, we discuss Landcrabs, Maxis and Allegros, give information about episodes of Fawlty Towers that you didn't need to know, cross a fence and generally discuss very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

A brilliant 1st part Sir, I really liked that sparky green Allegro 3 was certainly different. Nice to see Alex's Allegro Peggy and also nice to see Rick as well walking about filming.
Looking forward to Part 2 in due course.

We aim to please, sir! It's the 60th Anniversary of the AD016 this year, hence the really strong showing from the 1100 Club.

Me neither MR Lloyd, did try to look online, but found nothing. I was also quite shocked to learn, that the Maxi was in production until 1981, such an oddball looking car, almost Eastern block in appearance by then.

Allegro Equippe, Morris 1800 S, Wolesley 6. As if that wasn't enough we had a Daimler Double 6.
    Excellent Sir.

Lovely cars Joseph, I really do like the Riley Kestrel as mentioned before I want to drive one as well as the Maxi and Landcrab. Very funny interaction with Ricky 😁

Allegro wise, in 81& 82, they were building what specs they wanted in order to use up the instruments, headlights, etc.., previous option stuff, use them up before production stopped, in 81, dad wanted an estate and was told what was already built to choose from as no more to be built to specific spec!

Thank you, Phil! That would make sense as to why that 1300 Series III has the quad headlamps. Part Two went up yesterday, and Part Three will go up in an hour or so if you would like to see some more...

Thankyou for sharing Sir. Looks a great selection of cars. Love the BMC ADO16’s, beautiful design, as were the estates. The Austin 1800s were huge when I was a kid

The Vanden Plas at 3:22 is lovely. That will do me nicely.
....on the other hand this Daimler 16:02 might be the ticket. Gorgeoso !
I find the Allegro Estate to be better looking than the saloon. It just occurred to me that the designers manged to refrain from putting on Quartic-shaped car wheels.🙂
The wide variety of colours of these cars shames a lot of modern counterparts. It surprises me how a car's colour (or colours) can greatly enhance its visual appeal.

That chap you bumped into in front of the Maxi’s was a splendid looking fellow 🤣 you missed a series 3 allegro estate that left early, luckily I got it…. Hopefully I might get my video out tomorrow, great to catch up today.

Sir, that splendid looking fellow looks like he enjoyed himself in the 45 V6 later on in the day. I did miss the Series III Allegro Estate, sadly.

I bow to your superior knowledge of ADO16s! There are just so many different versions of them. I like the GT models with their funky wheel trims. The mark 1s have the bigger fins on them than the mark 2?
The Vanden Plas versions not having rev counters is perhaps a "Rolls Royce" trait of that era. I believe they lacked rev counters because their clientele were not the type to be revving engines! Seems like it continued right through to the 1984 Austin Rover Ambassador Vanden Plas.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, the Mark I and Mark II ADO16s did have different fins from what I remember. The GTs are very attractive, aren't they?
The Vanden Plas probably was not for the sporting motorist, hence probably the lack of the rev counter in everything before the Metro VDP. The Riley was the one to get if you wanted some of the luxury feel of the Vanden Plas, but wanted a more involving experience similar to an MG.

If memory serves me the Morris 1100 Mark 1 in Conaight Green was one of the most popular colours back in the day. My brother had a mk1 Morris 1100 , a very early one in primrose yellow , they have a very smooth ride.
