- I am opening three retail blaster boxes of 2020-21 Panini Illusions Basketball for our next sports card pack opening/product review! These boxes have an SRP of $20 but resell for ~$30-35. Every box contains 6 6-card packs. Look for emerald and ruby parallels which are exclusive to the retail blasters. These boxes come with chances at pulling rare SSP Starlight parallels (retail exclusive), inserts on acetate stock, emerald parallels (autos #/25), exclusive ruby parallels (#/125), autos from two different sets (Rookie signs & Trophy Collection Signatures), autos/rookies of LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Cole Anthony, & Tyrese Maxey, and more! Compared to other products, this is a low-end set. This product also has hobby and other retail formats. You can get a box for yourself from Target, Walmart, your local sports card hobby shops, and online retailers/sellers. Overall, I would rate this product a 5.25/10. Found a couple boxes at Target so decided to test my luck. Pulled a nice Teal Wiseman out of /75 but every packs 2nd to last card was severally damaged, corner was completely destroyed. Never seen this in blasters before and curious if anyone else has had this experience.
I may have a theory of why the cards are hard to tell the difference. The name of the set is called "Illusions" lol great content tho!!

The foils silver on the emerald and orange, don't know about rubys
I'm so glad the market has calmed down and my son and I can start ripping again, just wasn't willing to pay the ridiculous resale the last year or two.
Blaster #1 was definitely the best one. I think even if you combine 2 and 3 together it still wont beat #1

bought a mega from target- annndd hit a starlight!! My first ever SSP - AND it was Tyrese Haliburton!!! LOVE the card. The mega also had a numbered Anthony Davis! I was very happy with the box- Wasn't melo or ant but Haliburton has been BALLING lately. If sac trades Fox , hailiburton going to EXPLODE

I really just love the rookie reflection cards! They just look so nice. I pulled a Cole Anthony rookie reflections. Really liked the first box. Nice pulls Packman 🤝
NGL Illusions this year is one of my favorites, acetate inserts and the base cards are awesome
It's a nice looking set. I got a Walmart mega box and 3 blasters from Target. I was thrilled to get some packs at retail. I didn't hit much of anything though.
As a Bulls fan, i love that clear Lavine. Thats a sweet lookin card.
the emerald/orange colors have silver borders around player name, regulars have gold border lines.
you can tell the difference for the emerald by the text on top being silver instead of gold bud 🤘keep up the good stuff , loving the channel
Pulled an RJ Barret Starlight last year when he was doing well, such a sick card
Honestly the quality control of illusions this year was 1000x better then optic from the product I got at least LOL Enjoyed ripping these too, not much value but you get a ton of different inserts. My fav was the acetates!
Another thing I really liked was how there’s a portrait and a full body picture of the player!

For so.eone who hasn't collected sports cards since the 90's, what are the packs to grab if I were wanting to get back into collecting NBA or NFL cards?
You can tell the difference of the parallels by the color of the foil changing from Gold in the base to more of a chrome/silver look.
I remember 2019 illusions box flooding here in the Philippines on different group breaks. Lol. Good times.
Definitely a fun rip for a better price. I wish it was easier to tell between the parallels but other than that I like the set.
Thoughts on illusion ? It's easy to get because the flippers aren't after it and it that sense satisfied the itch to rip. It's fun to rip.
Great video! Love this set! Great set for young collectors or beginners. Bad about those corners. I’ve only found fat packs so far at Walmart, but have been lucky on corners. Very condition sensitive set.

Last years Edition, the Parallel have Gold Logo(the I in the Bottom) and Silver logo for the Parallel, I don't open this year's version yet.
How do you tell the difference between rarity in these cards ?! Is there a guideline that you can compare?? Please help

I like the look of the cards this year.
on the emeralds, the foil is a different color so you can tell a little easier
It looks like the top foil is also different now on the emerald. base is goldish and the emerald looks more silver
Whoever made these cards sure making it difficult if u have a emerald it's like colorblind!!!

I bought an illusions mega the other day and most of the base cards had massive corner damage and even creases right through the cards as if they had been bent in half. Box had no damage so it was likely from the factory. Very disappointing because I’m a fan of the set but don’t trust buying retail. Anyone else have this issue?
This happened to me with last years hoops. I got two nice Ja rookies and the corners were bent to hell

Straight up, the easiest way to tell is the foil on the name/number.. it’s silver on parallels, on the base it’s bronze/gold. I have an emerald Ja from last year that I only noticed because I thought it was a misprint on the foil color lol
Are the inserts or parallels (emerlad, starlight) numbered at all?
Of retail formats I probably like cellos the most but blasters would be a close second

Love Illusions, I’ll buy them for the Acetates alone, but nice Starlight! Box 1 then 2 then 3 for me. I’d rather an Ant RC over Ball, but box one was solid, great vid!

Blaster #1 is the best. Illusion for me is about 6/10 I would spend more on optic or mosaic than illusion

I love this set. I pulled a 9/49 black lamelo ball card. Not sure exactly what it’s worth but more then the mega box cost for sure.

Anyone else have issues with panini packs and dirt being in them.... I opened a pack and pulled an autograph card and it looked like breadcrumbs inbetween the cards in the pack which dented the surface

Look at the Foil color of the name plate. The parallel color is different than the base. That’s the easiest way to tell.
I know it’s explained in the video but I seriously cannot tell the difference in any of my cards. They all look the same when doing packs trick. Any thoughts?
Try looking at the foil. The color should be different for the parallels

Opened a blaster of this and all of the rookie cards had a dinged upper left corner like some of yours did. Lots of autos in these, but not much of any value. Still though, nice looking cards. It’s kind of wild that a bunch of this stuff is available on target right now and not red card exclusive.

Extremely easy to tell the parallels apart. The lettering is rainbow chrome vs gold.
