I totally understand the comments about Whitesnakes' 1987. Being familiar only with the older albums, I was surprised by the heaviness of it when it came out. Except for "Is This Love" it is a metal album done by a "hair metal" looking band.
Talking about its title - I think it was selftitled in the US and 1987 in Europe.

Aynsley Dunbar and Neil Murray aren't hair metal looking. John Sykes maybe. Coverdale was glammed up a bit. The guys in the videos definitely were.

Sweet Cut Above The Rest . Great album but they sound like a different band. The follow up in the USA was titled Sweet 6 . It was their 6th Capital records album but if you count the one album for Bell records it's actually their 7th USA album.

Some great choices Parish love that Darkness album. Agree with Kiss surly they had more songs to fill out side 4 from the sets used. Had to look up that Def Leppard album and X is their 8th studio album and the ten refers to it being the 10th release overall if you include Vault and Retroactive. Also Motley Crue had a cd boxset called Music To Crash Your Car To vol 1 with the first 4 albums and Too Fast has Leathur mix and Electra mix of 1 cd.

Great show - Mine would be AC/DC Powerage - My favourite album by the band but I lost my original vinyl over the years now any new version omits Cold Hearted Man for some bizarre reason, dragging it down from a 10 to a 9 - Annoying!

Drama is on my list and I agree that 90125 also drives me crazy. Drama is a great album. Single live albums (Derringer live) also drive me crazy and ANY post 1986 Aerosmith. Last but certainly not least is Rainbow On Stage. Mistreated takes up a whole side! Ahhh!!!

If expectation weighs soo heavily in your musical appreciation, you should consider a new pastime because anything new and fresh that challenges your status quo wont uptake anyway. Most great bands have already forever changed during the time they've entered and left the studio. I recognize this is the basis of almost every youtube music discussion but its like the futility of teaching water to flow uphill

To me, the Adrian Smith-less Maiden is their lowest point (No Prayer to Virtual XI). Of course, the first one is great without him. People complained about Blaze Bayley but I really don't think he was the problem at all. In fact, I think The X Factor is a pretty good album. Dark and the music fitted his voice more than Virtual XI.
