    Awesome tutorial! I have significant left hand ulnar nerve damage and I have been dying to find a way to play a little music again…this seems promising. Thank you!

    This is my new favorite tuning. You can barely play any famous songs with it but that’s like the only con. Almost no matter what you do, it will sound good.

    🔵 thanks ❕ i've avoided open tunings for years on end cause i could not easily find relatable material - but now that i've bought a couple resonator guitars , i'm determined to learn ❕👍 🐊 🐸🍀

      Sorry, it's a mixolydian scale so he is playing it correctly.

    • @jedlewis8232
      @jedlewis8232 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed that, it sounded dissonant.

    • @shepaluteprez
      @shepaluteprez 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the exact same question. I looked up mixolydian mode and found out that it does intentionally have a flat 7th (10th fret) in the scale on purpose in order to add a dissonance especially when playing blues. I wish he had explained this as a lot of new players are left with the notion a flat 7th is part of the normal D scale.

    Here's a dumb question for you - can't you do that over any chord you choose?

    Have you ever seen Dolly Parton play the guitar? She never hits a cord. She just picks notes. What is she turning her guitar in?

    • @mgibby63mg
      @mgibby63mg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thomas Tommy yes she does. she plays in open tunings. if you bar across all the strings that's a chord. Like in open d, strike the strings open rusts a d. Bar at the 5th fret that's the 4 chord G, bar at the 7th fret that's the 5 chord A. that is your basic 1,4,5 progression.

      IMHO his Martin guitar sounds very nice indeed and I was thinking just that before I saw your critical comment. Sweet acoustic tone. Different strokes.
