This is the most detailed install video I have found on YT of the intercooler swap for this platform. Well done gentlemen! For those that may not understand 1200+ ft is a huge swing in DA and not in a good direction. Stock vs. just the new IC, gains are pretty good. Its does work!
Thanks for the Vid! I am sure the "slope" makes a bit of a diff as well. Love Steeda but, I think i am going Steeda diff brace and Intercooler but ZFG for the tune. 👍👍
I've had my ST for 3 days and I love it. Seeing what these 2 mods do is incredible. I wonder how much of a gain an exhaust will have. Does Steeda offer installation?
@@ryryshredder148 Probably not as long as you have the factory tune. Once the ecm has been touched forget about your warranty. Ask me how I know. If you do tune and since your gonna blow the warranty, make sure you get a very good one to make it worth it.
I just took delivery of the Steeda intercooler and the SCT tune. It got me to wondering, how much of an increase in hp and torque can be had just with the tune? The website lists 0-60 times for stock, intercooler only, and intercooler / tune. Would be nice to have similar data for just the tune. I would imagine most of the 90+ hp increase comes from the tune? Installing the tune is a LOT easier than the intercooler, so I installed that first. Noticeable difference, especially in Sport mode, and the transmission shifts smoother too. On the stock tune, in Sport mode, there was a hard downshift into 2nd, and that's gone now with the SCT tune. I plan on installing the intercooler in the next week or two, but I think most of the hp and torque gains I've already achieved with the tune. I don't track my ST, but anything to get a cooler intake charge is a good thing. I'm probably going to remove the shutter blades as well, but leave the motors, so I don't throw any CELs. Did this on an F150 Ecoboost I used to have, and it ran fine.
The advertised HP and TQ numbers are from SCT's testing of the tune alone. The intercooler is there to maximize the performance of the tune and give you more reliable power for a longer period of time.
I have a 22 explorer ST, Cvf intercooler, Cvf downpipes, S&b intake, upr catchcan, thermal 3 in catback. Sct with jdm engineering tune. Made 440 whp 530 tq on pump 91.
@@charleshenson4183 the numbers aren’t that bad, the tq at the wheels is only about 470 though 530 crank. But 440whp and 470 wtq actually isn’t bad that about 120 whp and 150wtq over stock. Parts of the problem is fuel 91 octane is garbage, if I had 93 it would be about 15-20 higher. However if I had ethanol available it would be like 550whp 580 wtq hahaha. The tune is also very conservative so that it’s not as stressful to the transmission. It’s not the fastest st by a long shot by it still has like a 4.2 0-60.
I see that the tune allows you to turn off the Auto Stop/Start, but is there an option to set the default drive mode? I want it to be in Sport mode by default.
All the time or you will get rod knock. You can also run E85 with the 93 tune and get more hp increase as well( -2,3 mpg). Should have shown the difference with that since it is a + with flexfuel engines. You can also perform an 87 tune with slight improvements in acceleration over stock when removing the WOT limiter. I hope this helps!
Your warranty will depend on the dealership and what area may be affected, but in short, changing the tune will void the warranty. You do keep the factory tune on the device if you decide to ever return to stock. If you want to keep your warranty, you can still get this intercooler, but pick up the Ford Performance tune instead. It may be a milder tune, but it is approved by Ford if installed by a certified technician to retain the full warranty.

Not void all together, but they won’t cover any issues that they determined were caused by the mods.

What kind of HP gains did you get from the intercooler and tuner with 93 Octane
We weren't able to test HP as our dyno is only 2-wheel drive, hence the 0-60 testing. SCT does rate the tune at +93HP and +50TQ with premium fuel.
Do I need a computer for the tuner or can I just plug into the car out of the box
The tune comes preloaded on the device so you just need to plug it into the vehicle.
