@@rogueleafninja7521 Swarm was my choice as soon as they announced the team move. Heck, I'd even settle for Stingers to keep the bee vibes.
I'm pretty sure the idea is to get something that's going to fit the color scheme.
@@jadespritethe Columbus blue jacket mascot has entered the chat.
shannon but he's a vampire: good evening, all
I'm surprised yeti cups could ha e been used at the arena etc but missed opportunities
Corporate Greed. The ruining of everything continues..
Thursday picks Winnipeg, Minnesota Washington, los Angeles, Chicago, NY islanders, Anaheim, Edmonton, las Vegas and Seattle
Call it petty, but: The official NHL site is putting out rosters that have Alternate Captains labeled as "assistants" huge pet peeve
Mammoth is cool. Please go with mammoth. They could do some really cool stuff with that.
Utah Pronghorns was a name I saw a few days ago, & would’ve been my pick, but Mammoth was my favorite of the original six options
Hey man, you do such hard work and you do it so well, thanks for doing what you do, let’s go hockey guy, let’s go redwings
could they be the Utah Yeti’s? or ie that under copyright too
No the Yeti company trademarked that too
Thank you for quickly explaining Wasatch because I was like, THE HELL IS THAT?
If it's not Utah Outlaws it's a bad name
Boycott Yeti, see the stock price drop, and do a hostile takeover, just a joke, but?
Like there are enough people who would care about the issue to make a difference.
Hockey has teams, soccer has clubs
Better tell Toronto. They're the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club
100%
@@CIronbeard
Not one person has ever called them by such a thing. I'd be surprised if more than a tiny handful of folks even know that.
Besides, when's that date back to 1924?
@theScotian24 dang, then why are they putting it on their pucks and decals in the NHL shop currently. Just because people don't call them that doesn't mean that the term isn't Hockey Club.
Utah Honeybee's or Bees and calling the fanbase or arena the beehive was the best idea that didn't make the cutoff. That final list isn't even real, Mammoth is the only passable remaining option
@@MrBOuellette Bees is our baseball team, so a no go for that one.
@@aw3someinc175 ahhh, I don't follow baseball so I did not know that!
@@MrBOuellette Right, probably not local either…It’s all good
@@MrBOuelletteIt’s a minor league AAA team in SLC. We are wondering if Utah gets an MLB team if they will transfer the name. This is because the Miller group that owns the AAA team are actively pursuing an MLB franchise. The Millers are the former owners of the Utah Jazz. They sold the Jazz to Ryan Smith who now also owns the Utah hockey club.
We already have a minor league baseball team named the bees. We also have a team named the raptors.
let's go Habs! Given the other games today, it's probably a unique opportunity to gain back some ground in the MID-off
Utah Super Soakers isnt available😢
0:35 Wasa Wasatch?
Hot take: both real names are kinda sweet
Utah- really boys, these are the best candidates you can come up with? Every heard of GPT or hiring a marketing organization? C'mon- show some creativity without getting weird. You can do this!
Honest to God.
Here we go for a Thursday!
After a sub-par 2-3 night, here are your winners for tonight: WPG MIN WSH TBL CAR NYI CGY EDM VGK SEA
They should have been the Swarm. But I also like Mammoth and I hope Colorado brings back the footprint logo and howler now!
Bonneville's not too far from Salt Lake City, and it's known around the world as a speedy place, but I never saw any Utah name being considered that took that connection into consideration, which is surprising because in hockey they always try to emphasize speed. Maybe they can combine things and call the new team "The Mammoth Car" for all the Speed Racer fans out there.
Jagr should just be tossed in the minute he retires. No announcement, no special anything, just throw him in there.
he isnt retiring, he is making his NHL return for one more run.
yup, tossed in jail for going for underage girls at his age.
Mammoth is the best of a bad bunch.
Utah Terrors with a T-Rex logo.
Why would they leave "Hockey Club" as one of their three options? 😂
I’ve seen a few commenters saying they’ve pulled Wasatch and replaced it with Outlaws. Outlaws is my pick because it is a plural noun as all sports team should be. If it was Mammoths and not Mammoth I’d vote for that over Outlaws, but as it is Outlaws is the clear choice.
UTAH UNDERDOGS
Do it
The democracy of the Utah name choice was apparently an illusion. You get Mammoth or a joke name.
If it ends up being Hockey Club, you’ll know the fix was always in
The Hockey club Formerly Known as the Coyotes?
That's the one!
Use some random symbol as a logo!
I think your update on the new Utah Hockey Club name is already out of date. I saw a local news report today saying that due to crunching of the numbers that they already had and feedback that they got at the game last night they have decided that including Wasatch as one of the three options was a mistake. So going forward it will be replaced with Outlaws. That makes the three choices Utah Hockey Club, Mammoth, and Outlaws.
Quick Google search, came up with these... Utah Ice Salts, Utah Canyoniers, Utah Zion, Utah Bighorns, Utah Muskies...
I was so into Utah Raptors and Utah Yeti. I really really hope it's Mammoth not Hockey Club or even worse... Wasatch
Why use a name already used in another major league though?
Seems unimaginative, even if it fits the State.
It really is the "little" things that make me hate, which is a strong word, but I mean it, just about everything about the legal system. Utah Yeti cannot gain copyright because some stupid fuck "thinks people will confuse a hockey team with a beverage cup brand" but somehow, they have never address how Stanley cups infringe on the NHL's Stanley Cup. what makes it worse? someone in the U.S. Copyright Office will read this and go, "that's right! I bought my daughter a Stanely cups and the NHL should have to rename their championship"
Oh, and if I am not mistaken, they also CANNOT trademark Hockey Club, as it is too generic and you cannot trademark Utah, so that is out too.
@@Tseuq4gninaem You're not mistaken, they couldn't trademark "Hockey Club" as a word mark, but they could design a logo with that name & get a trademark for the logo.
@@THE_bchat it's wild. You know the Washington DC's NFL franchise? That's right, they lost Redskins due to "sensitivity" the denied renewal, then Denied Commanders... Here are the reasons why:
The first is the annual college football game between Army and Air Force, dubbed the Commanders' Classic, which was inaugurated in 2021. The other is the existence of two pending trademark applications by Martin McCaulay, a D.C. fan who filed applications for Space Commanders and Wolf Commanders as he tried to guess the team's new nickname before Washington changed to Commanders.
Also, they are going back to the Redskins as they own the Trademark, and the Supreme Court overturned the USPTO's decision to Cancel the Trademark. All this just to name something.
Maybe the logo could be a yeti riding in on a mammoth 🤔
They’re doing an in stadium final voting over the next four games starting with the Penguins game last night. My girlfriend and I will be going to the game Sunday against the Blues and voting for Utah Mammoth for sure. Anything but Utah hockey club! The most generic name ever- might as well name them the Utah vanilla.
1/30 Winnipeg, Minnesota, Ottawa, Los Angeles, Carolina, NY Islanders, Calgary, Edmonton, Las Vegas, Seattle
Question on the trademark thing. If mammoth isn’t trademarked are they grandfathered in if Utah decides to trademark it? The whole thing is weird to me
Wouldn't it be cool if the Yeti Corp. bought the naming rights to the arena the Utah hockey club plays in?
The Utah Physical Embodiment Of Perfection and Grace on the ice?
Utah Mammograms. You know it's coming.
