She does switch up genres a lot but it still captures a lot of people because she has an incredible pen game. Over time her writing has gotten more complex and can be hard to understand without the lyrics infront of you. TTPD is my favourite album yet but a lot of people did not get it initially because of all the double and triple entendres.
If you want to listen to a song that hits you hard in the feels…try “Ronan”. But you must see the one that has photos of the little boy. She has only sung it live two times because it’s difficult for her to sing without crying.
I think you will enjoy her Long Pond Studio sessions, where she sings her Folklore album in a intimate way and her vocals are 💯 in case you still wanna give her a chance, Folklore is always a good way to start for non swifties 😂

It's actually about the same guy All Too Well is about, actor Jake Gyllenhaal. It left me wanting her to do a rock album. I'm a 68 year old rock/blues guy and took a dive into Swift this year to see what all the fuss was about. It's not like I hate pop but it's really hit or miss with me. I've been rather shocked how many of her songs I actually enjoy. Early on I watched her Miss Americana documentary for some background on who she is and her life. It was quite good and well worth the watch. I watched a couple of full concerts and then dove into her music videos (through reaction videos). I'm actually rather impressed both with her songwriting, particularly her storytelling lyrics, and the theatrical live show she puts on. I definitely get her popularity. Btw, Swifty's hate it, but you'll have an easier time avoiding being blocked by pausing the video to talk about it. I actually like that as I see it as expressing your reaction as thoughts occur to you throughout the song.
