What an absolutely delightful creature she is - the way she smiles and is so excited at the end!!!!

totally, utterly extraordinary, especially the last few minutes and the final "mort". Marisol Montalvo looks positively like a roaming tiger at times!

Elle était trop contente que ça se termine. C'était plus dur pour elle que pour le public. L'orchestre était juste derrière elle.

Not all of Boulez's music speaks to me, but I do enjoy this work.
Why make the poor soprano stand the entire time?
I also always wish the videos of performances like this could be directed by someone who can read a score -- too many long shots of musicians *not* playing.

I don't believe the soprano was MADE to stand there. I think it's her own idea. It's as if the whole movement is just a prelude to her last heroic musical declaration, ending with that final susurrando, "mort," and the orchestra's full stop. Terrifying and beautiful. Mostly (not entirely) in the tradition of musical Tombeaus throughout history.

Remind that Tombeau (which is the title of the poem by Mallarme) is only a part of Pli selon Pli.

Maravilhosa a interpretação de Marisol Montalvo. Pena que Boulez reservou-lhe apenas alguns preciosos minutos ao final de "Tombeau".

"Don" and "Tombeau" as the outer movements, using fragments in the first and a single line of Mallarme in the latter, are pretty much my favorite compositions from Boulez. I was always somehow under the impression that Boulez here, in these later movements was at his bests, while the treatment of the poems in the Improvisations isn't that strong. Still, one of the greatest pieces of 20th century music.

Please listen to the original version of Improvisation III in this amazing performance: th-cam.com/video/EXHXzlRx0Ng/w-d-xo.html I think you may find it to be the equal of Tombeau in quality. The second part of the piece reminds me of what would be highly sophisticated Lalo Schifrin!

There appears to be a certain kind of TH-cam creature who seeks out videos of avant-garde classical music in order to tell everyone how much they hate it. As if anyone else cares. It must be sad to be one of these creatures.

Why are 3 harps necessary .Somanymust feeluttery clueless when presented with this score and its already over 60 years old ,Confounds me at every listen.I memorized the entire FIRST PAGE of the 2nd Sonata. Just one page . Many now memorize many of his scores .evels are sohigh now in performance .And the music always eventful is its own world .

Incredible passionate and beautiful performance of this rather bulky piece of music. And Marisol Montalvo ... She's so sexy in her blue gown!! And of course a great soprano too. I've got wet eyes at her enthusiastic outburst at the end...
Matthias Pintscher is doing a REALLY GREAT JOB (generally speaking).
