      Hi Paul. Thanks for your kind comment. Turning off centre is brilliant fun. If you're going to play with it, move the piece a little off centre first, and then a little further etc with each piece, and remember to stand out the way...and always be as safe as possible.
      All the best,
      Martin

    Great video Martin! 😁 Glad to have you back. The pieces look awesome...I really like the added plaques on the back. Sorry you had some hiccups the last few weeks. Hopefully everything is back on track & heading in the right direction. Now, if only we could figure out the darn shipping across the pond for the stains. 😣

    Love the brass plauqes on your wonderful woodart. As I commented on one of your previous videos you can't beat getting your name out there to the general public. You put your soul into your art but if people don't know who created it they can't come back for more.
    Not sure if I've put that the right way but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

    I just love the fire pit, if only I had the money I would at your door.... talking of doors, I really hope your new process shed is well vented while you melt the waxes etc, I'm sure there are some unliked odours that shouldn't be sniffed at....I hope I'm wrong....

    • @msabansmith
      @msabansmith  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Marc. Thanks for the comment. I'm well ventilated, yeah. Open vents across the top of the walls and nothing is made with the door closed. A fan will be installed though, when I get the electric put in. The vapours aren't horrifc smelling, just not very healthy!
      All the best for now,
      Martin

    The Ad Centrum Terrae is really attractive. I did wonder whether you you would ever show the ”propeller”. I met you briefly at Yandles on the Saturday and knowing the weight of the piece and it's centre of balance, the turn that you did was really impressive. You seemed cautious about promoting it at the time perhaps because of the safety issues. You do seem to be developing extensive knowledge of off centre turning and I wonder whether you would consider a section on the planning behind each of the pieces. I think that it is more than just 'plug it full of screws, start it slowly and keep your head out of the way'. Thanks,Glenn.

    • @msabansmith
      @msabansmith  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Glenn. Thank you very much....I'm learning a lot about off centre and 'wonky' turning at the moment. The mounting method of the propeller piece will never be shown publicly - the safety police would have a fit, but take it from me that 150mm screws were used in places! Lol. I've changed the method for more recent pieces which is a lot safer, which I am happy to share on TH-cam. There's a video coming fairly soon that will show it...and another video which I will make sure I include a better section on the workings-out of the piece, as it is complicated for a simple design! And yeah....keep out the way!
      All the best, and hope to see you at UKIWS in July or Yandles again in September.
      Martin

    great to see an update, where did you get the photography background? I'm currently considering a very similar setup.

  • @noeldc
    @noeldc 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ditch the fluorescent light for your photos and get an LED light strip - it has a far better colour spectrum.

    • @msabansmith
      @msabansmith  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Noeldc. Th fluorescent tube is great. It gives a nice even light across the background and the top of the piece. Thankfully, with a 10 background of pro photography, colour balancing in-camera is second nature. There is an LED panel above the lathe, which is fantastic. I'll put that into the 'How I Shoot a Video' video!¬
      All the best,
      Martin
